I started this series with great enthusiasm, thinking that our readers will like to read about a set of films no one talks about. There are no articles or any information on Action films anywhere.

This genre of ” C ” grade films is disappearing fast and in last few years atleast I have not seen a C grade film. One of the main reasons may be that in today’s world of slick films, advanced technology and special effects(SFX) techniques and computerised imaging, the real life stunts are no more exciting. In today’s films you can see the Hero jumping from building to building and run faster that a Bullet Train. Such acts are not possible in old style manual stunts, come what may.

“Ratnadeep” (1952) is an obscure movie which was produced by Chitra Maiya (I guess that it is the name of the production house rather than an individual). Debaki Bose was the director. Star cast of the movie included names like Anuva Gupta, Abhi Bhattacharya, Pahari Sanyal, Molina, Chhaya Devi, Nitish Mukerji, Tulsi Chakraborty, Kamal Misra, Manju Dey etc.

Mubarak Begum – such a mesmerizing voice, and such soulful renditions. In my humble opinion, I would rate her as the best female ghazal singer of the golden era of Hindi film music. She is incomparable in this milieu.

“Aandhi Aur Toofaan” (1964) is an elusive movie in the sense that any details about this movie is difficult to find. Video of this movie as well as its songs are well hidden from public view. What I have been able to find about this movie is that it is a quintessential Dara Singh style B grade movie. It had Dara Singh,Mumtaz,Jeewan,Kamran,Bhagwan etc in it.

This movie is called “Tarzan and King Kong” (1965). The title and its star cast leaves no doubt in anyone’s mind that it is a C category movie. It has Dara Singh, Randhawa (Dara Singh’s brother), Mumtaz, Shyam Kumar etc.
