“Sangdil” (1967), unlike “Sangdil”(1952) is a less known movie. It was directed by Dharam Kumar for Alamdeep Productions, Bombay.According to HFGK, this B grade movie had Dara Singh, Ameeta, Manohar Deepak, Anwar Hussain, Indira, Satish, Surendra, Shammi, Ramlal,Dilip Dutt, Johny Whisky, K D Katkar, Pal Sharmja, Saudagar Singh, Shahid Bijnori, Bhagwan in it.

Here in this blog we discuss songs from Hindi movies on a daily basis. Since we discuss songs so it is natural that we discuss the people also who are involved in the making of these songs. They could be the singers, lyricists or the music directors, or they could be actors figuring in the picturisation of these songs. Rougly speaking, this blog by now had 6280 plus songs from 2000 plus movies. Over three hundred singers, over three hundred lyricists, and over two hundred music directors have been discussed in the blog so far. I have not counted the number of actors figuring in these songs, but that number is likely to be more than three hundreds as well.

Sajjad Hussain, regarded as the only original music director of Hindi movies, was a temperamental genius who would brook no interference in his creative work and leave movies in a huff if he felt that his producers were interfering in his work. As a result, there are several movies where he composed one or two songs before he would leave the movie.

In my bid to discuss all the Sajjad Hussain songs, I have made considerable progress. I have so far discussed as many as 40 songs, which is a big figure, considering that Sajjad Hussain composed only about 100 songs in Hindi movies.

When I watch many movie titles and story lines of old movies, I notice that many of them could not be made today because they would be regarded as politically incorrect in these days of being politically correct. I do not think we can have songs mentioning Bombay, Madras etc nor can we describe people as Junglee, blind, langdaa etc without invoking the wrath of some group of people or the other.
