“Yahudi”(1958) was a mythological movie of foreign origin. The movie is of the Roman era of Marcus and Brutus. But I do not think there may have been too much of an authenticity in the portrayal of characters in this movie, even though this movie was made by the respected Bimal Ray.

In 1950s, Shankar Jaikishan tended to use Lata’s voice for all female playback songs. It is alright if they had to use her voice for one actress, but there were occasions when more than one actress in the same movie lip synced to Lata’s voice. Fortunately, they did not do so in the same song.

This is a song that I must have heard many a times. It is a timeless classic. And considering that this song is from “Aawaara”(1951) and it is sung by Lata, I took it for granted that this song was picturised on Nargis.

Bollywood movies have songs on many topics, and the most important topic is obviously “love”. Boy is shown falling in love with a girl and is shown expressing his love with a song. The girl will initially disapprove of his attention then begin responding and would be found joining towards the end of the song.

I may have heard this song in the past but only in passing. This time I heard it attentively, and found out about its details. I came to know that this song was from “Chori Chori” (1956). Now I wonder just how many great songs were there in “Chori Chori” (1956).
