4th August. A day that is important for Kishore Kumar fans. He would have 91.
Almost as a ritual all channels will show some movie were we see the best side of KK. His wonderful singing, his comic timing. His weird dancing. We will be treated to either Padosan or Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi or any other popular movie. But we in this blog are unique, in the sense we dig out a new song for every occasion/ post. We also strive to find a different facet of the artist.

“Singaar” (1949) was directed by J K Nanda for Haldia Nanda Productions. The movie had Jairaj, Suraiya, Madhubala, Madan Puri, Randhir, K. N. Singh, Durga Khote etc in it.

I have so far discussed songs from “Singaar” (1949) that were sung by Suraiyya and Surinder Kaur and picturised on Suraiyya and Madhubala respectively. This movie also has songs sung by other singers and picturised on lesser actors.

“Singaar” (1949) is a movie starring Suraiyya, Jairaj, Madhubala. It has so many songs in it that I wonder whether this movie has any time left for dialogues.

I just stumbled upon a song that is picturised on Suraiyya (then a superstar) and Madhubala (an emerging superstar). This song is from “Singaar” (1949) and it is a showdown song between the two.

I came across this song from a very old movie called “Singaar” (1949). The artists involved in creating this song are not all that well known today. The singer is Surinder Kaur and the lyricist is Nakshab. Khursheed Anwar composed the music.
