‘Shehzaadi’ (1947) is a film about which not much information is available online except that it was produced under the banner of Shalimar Pictures owned by WZ Ahmed and the film belonged to the costume drama genre. I had searched extensively on the internet about the star cast and the director but drew a blank. Earlier, I had even a doubt whether the film was actually released.

“Pugree”(1948) was directed by Anant Thakur for All India Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Kamini Kaushal, Vasti, Shashikala, Amar, Gope, Dixit, Pratima Devi, Ramavtar, Chopra, Rane, K S Sengar, Rahim , Pahalwan etc in it.

During late 1960s and early 1970s, when I was a young kid, I hated the time period between 7-30 AM to 8 AM, because it was during this time that “Puraani filmon ke geet” programme was played on the air by Radio Ceylon. In this programme, songs from 1930s, 1940s and even 1950s were played. The singers were often names that I had never heard of. And their singing styles were found amusing by kids like me.
