Shankar of Shankar Jaikishan promoted Sharda in a big way and this led to considerably difference of opinion between the duo. Sharda had an unconventional voice and she obviously was limited in her range compared to say Lata who was the female singer of choice by default for them till then.

“Suraj”(1966) was the biggest musical blockbuster of the year and its song “bahaaron” phool barsaao” went on to become the most popular song of the year in Binaca geetmala finals.

“Suraj” was a movie starring Rajendra Kumar and Vyjyanti Mala. I am sure this movie was very successful, as befitted Rajendra Kumar’s nickname of “Jubilee Kumar”.
