I became aware of the movie when farmaish for a song of this movie was given by a reader some two years back. The reader had mentioned the movie as “Banu” which was a typo and as a result my search was delayed. Finally I located the song. Being able to home in on this elusive song gave me tremendous satisfaction. That song was the first song from this movie to be posted in this blog. Subsequently I have discussed two more songs from this movie.

“Bahu” (1955) is a movie which was produced by P R Films. It was directed by Shakti Samanta. The movie had Karan Dewan, Usha Kiran, Shashikala, Pran, Mumtaz Begum, Johnny Walker, Bipin Gupta, Mehmood, Kundan etc in it.

In 1950s, Mukesh was trying hard to be an actor-singer. He was producing his own movies in which he would be the hero and naturally he would sing his own songs. His career as a singer was sugffering as a result, because he was not getting too many assignments as a playback singer. When Madan Mohan began his career as a music director with “Aankhen” (1950), he used several singers and lyricists in that movie. Interestingly, Lata was not among those several singers. He began using Lata from his subsequent movies. And he also made use of less number of singers and lyricists in these movies.

I receive hundreds of farmaishes for songs that are not yet posted in this blog. Many of these farmaishes are for songs that are well known and/or relatively easily avaiable. Sometimes though, there are farmaishes for songs that are very difficult to find. There are cases where the farmaish giver was desperately seeking the song for years and even decades without success. It is highly satisfying for me when sometimes I am actually able to locate these elusive songs after some nice detective work.
