Baba teri son chiraiyya jaawe anjaane ki nagariyaa

Posted on: February 2, 2011

As music lovers, most of us only get to listen to well known songs. If one wants to listen to songs that were forgotten, one needs to dig deep and search for them. During this search, one often comes across some gems.

Here is one such gem that I just unearthed. This forgotten song is from an obscure movie called “Aawaaz”(1956).

This song is a wonderful wedding song. Usha Kiran is getting married, and her sahelis, including Nalini Jaiwant, sing this song on this occasion.

Lata is the singer alongwith chorus. Shailendra is the lyricist. Salil Chaudhary is the music director.

Here is this forgotten gem from “Aawaaz” (1956)

Song-Baba teri son chiraiyya jaawe anjaane ki nagariyaa (Aawaaz) (1956) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Salil Chaudhary

Lyrics

baba teri son chiraiyya
jaawe anjaane ki nagariyaa
ho baba teri son chiraiyya
jaawe anjaane ki nagariyaa
o baba teri son chiraiyya
jaawe anjaane ki nagariyaa
o baba teri son chiraiyya
jaawe anjaane ki nagariyaa

kaun des se ye saudaagar aaya
aaya re
kaun des se ye saudaagar aaya
ho aaya re
sone ka pinjra dikhlaa ke
maina ko lalchaayaa
sone ka pinjra dikhlaa ke
maina ko lalchaayaa
sun bhaye
panghat taal talaiyya
sun bhaye
panghat taal talaiyya
baba teri son chiraiyya
jaawe anjaane ki nagariyaa
o baba teri son chiraiyya
jaawe anjaane ki nagariyaa
o baba teri son chiraiyya
jaawe anjaane ki nagariyaa

jaan boojh ke dil ka bandhan todaa
todaa re
jaan boojh ke dil ka bandhan todaa
ho todaa re
anjaane se naataa jodaa
saath hamaara chhoda
anjaane se naataa jodaa
saath hamaara chhoda
rowat bahna rowat bhaiyya
rowat bahna rowat bhaiyya
baba teri son chiraiyya
jaawe anjaane ki nagariyaa
o baba teri son chiraiyya
jaawe anjaane ki nagariyaa
o baba teri son chiraiyya
jaawe anjaane ki nagariyaa

As was the trend in cases of some other movies, the best song seems to have been deleted from this movie. I get a feeling that a portion of the orchestra preceding the song was used as signature tune in one of the radio programmes :
