My two paise on this song
This song breaks many myths. One of the myth being that a song needs to be a sad song to become evergreen and memorable. Other is that Shayars like Hasrat Jaipuri are only good for writing melancholy ghazals etc. Yes, this bubbly, youthful, energetic song has been written by him.
Here is one song that will lift your spirits sky high. The uncle of Rani Mukherji (that is how I introduce old timers like Joy Mukherji, the hero in this song to youngsters these days) does a great job as a Shammi Kapoor clone. And Asha ji (our beloved Ms Parekh) was a standard fixture in such kinds of songs those days.
The picturisation is great. And considering that it was 1960s, the scenes of Japan that were shown in this song were stuffs of fantasy for most Indians.
And what about Rafi? He has sung this song with such gusto, such energy and with such gay abandon. Wow! You can try singing this song, but chances are you will fall much shorter than the maestro. There have been successful clones of many actors and singers, but cloning Rafi’s voice, especially for a song like this is just out of question. If ever there was a song that was joyous, uplifting, and memorable, all at the same time, here is just the song for you. Enjoy!

My favorite song from this film is “Aaja Re Aa Zara Aa”…it’s so seductive and beautiful…
All the songs are good though 🙂

Ek se badhkar ek gaana chuna hai.
The movie was released before “maine hosh sambhala” but I remember this song from my very early days. I think it was a huge hit.
I love this song – like you say, it is uplifting and total time-pass.
Rafi saab was amazing in his versatility.
