Abke bahaar aayi hai

I stumbled upon this song from a forgotten movie called “Aulaad”. What a song for nostalgia buffs this turns out to be ! This song is sung by Rafi under the music direction of Chitragupta ( father of Anand Milind) and Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist.
That is not all. There is more to it. The picturisation is done on Jeetendra ( father of Ekta Kapoor) and Babita (later mother of Karishma and Kareena Kapoor). Jeetendra does not look like Ekta Kapoor, but Babita resembles Karishma ( it should be the other way round, but then I am playing to the gallery filled with younger generation here 😉 )
The song itself is nice to listen to, once you play it a few times and get used to it.

Song-Abke bahaar aayi hai (Aulaad) (1968) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Chitragupta
Lyrics
abke bahaar aayi hai tumhaare naam se
abke bahaar aayi hai tumhaare naam se
masti fizaa mein hai inhi labon ke jaam se
abke bahaar aayi hai tumhaare naam se
chalti ho jidhar se bikhraake rang -e- badan
chalti ho jidhar se bikhraake rang-e- badan
tumse milne ko uthti hai shaakhe chaman
uthte hain haath jaise pahle salaam se
abke bahaar aayi hai tumhaare naam se
abke bahaar aayi hai tumhaare naam se
dekha jo tumhe to gulshan pe chhayi ghata
dekha jo tumhe to gulshan pe chhayi ghata
daaman se lipatne kadmo me aayi ghata
bahki sabaa tumhaare aanchal ko thaam ke
abke bahaar aayi hai tumhaare naam se
abke bahaar aayi hai tumhaare naam se
rangeen chehre se ab nazren kaise haten
rangeen chehre se ab nazren kaise haten
tumne sarkaa di rukh se jo kaali laten
subhe bahaar nikli zulfon ki shaam se
abke bahaar aayi hai tumhaare naam se
masti fizaa mein hai inhi labon ke jaam se
abke bahaar aayi hai tumhaare naam se

Atul, this is quite a well-known song, at least for Rafi saab buffs.
This movie was quite a hit – thanks largely to Mehmood and his antics. He stole the show with his song “jodi hamaari banega kaise jaani”.
At that time some heroes, and Jeetendra in particular, felt that Mehmood in their movies was actually overshadowing them. Humjoli, Waaris, Jawaab (famous for “aaja meri jaan ye hai june ka maheena”) all had pretty big roles for Mehmood.
