I became aware of the movie “Do Dishaayen” (1982) while posting Yesuda’s Vishesh Jaimala programme’s transcript in another of my blogs. This movie is such an obscure movie that its songs were not available on internet in any form.
The Yesudas song, which I have since posted in my blog is a nice song, but the best song of the movie is the one sung by Lata. What a song ! This song tugs at the heart strings of the listeners and continuees to linger in the memory long after the song has ended.
Anand Bakshi’s lyrics are wonderful, and the way the music of Laxmikant Pyarelal begins, one is certain that a musical treat is coming up. And one is not disappointed. In fact one is enthralled. It is such a nice and pleasant realisation that such a beautiful song was getting created in 1982 when Bollywood music world was in the grips of disco mania. The disco songs of those days are long forgotten, and this song , that failed to get its due those days, is thankfully still around. It is just that this song is not as well known as it should be.
This post of mine is just my humble attempt to try and bring this song back into circulation among those music fans who love good quality music that Bollywood music industry has come up with over the decades. And this song is certainly a gem that lay forgotten.
