Aansoo samajh ke kyun mujhe

“Chhaaya” (1961) was a Sunil Dutt, Asha Parekh starrer. Salil Chowdhary was the music director and Rajinder Krishan had written the lyrics of this movie.
Talat Mahmood’s voice was used for Sunil Dutt in this movie and he had sung some unforgettable songs in this movie. I have already posted one such song “itna na mujhse tu pyaar badha” which was a duet sung with Lata.
Here is another lovely Talat song from this movie. This is a party song picturised in a very 1960s manner, viz in a very big hall with the hero singing standing by a big staircase and the audience standing like a statue etc. I have already described party songs of 1960s in detail in many other songs. So here let us just enjoy this song.

Song-Aansoo samajh ke kyon mujhe (Chhaya) (1961) Singer-Talat Mahmood, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Salil Chowdhury
Lyrics
aansoo samajh ke kyun mujhe
aankh se tumne giraa diyaa
moti kisi ke pyaar kaa
mitti mein kyun milaa diyaa
aansoo samajh ke kyun mujhe
jo naa chaman mein khil sakaa
main wo ghareeb phool hoon
jo naa chaman mein khil sakaa
main wo ghareeb phool hoon
jo kuchh bhi hoon bahaar ki
chhoti si ek bhool hoon
jis ne khilaa ke khud mujhe
khud hi mujhe bhulaa diyaa
aansoo samajh ke kyun mujhe
aankh se tumne gira diya aa
aansoo samajh ke kyun mujhe
naghmaa hoon
kab magar mujhe
apne pe koyi naaz thhaa
naghmaa hoon
kab magar mujhe
apne pe koyi naaz thhaa
gaayaa gayaa hoon jis pe main
tootaa huaa wo saaz thhaa
jis ne sunaa wo hans diyaa
hans ke mujhe rulaa diyaa aa
aansoo samajh ke kyun mujhe
aankh se tumne giraa diyaa
aansoo samajh ke kyun mujhe
meri khataa muaaf
main bhoole se aa gayaa yahaan
meri khataa muaaf
main bhoole se aa gayaa yahaan
varnaa mujhe bhi hai khabar
meraa nahin hai ye jahaan
doob chalaa thhaa neend mein
achchhaa kiyaa jagaa diyaa aa
aansoo samajh ke kyun mujhe
aankh se tumne gira diya
moti kisi ke pyaar kaa
mitti mein kyun milaa diyaa
aansoo samajh ke kyun mujhe ae ae

thanks atul for posting this here. in most of the sites, the stanza beginning with ‘naghmaa hoo’ is missing. one correction in the order of antaras. actually, the first one begins with “jo na chaman mein” and the second stanza is “naghmaa hoon’. thanks!

What a lovely voice of Talat. And I think his voice suited Sunil Dutt very well. Wonder why we do not have such talent and such music these days. But thanks to the pretty sad music (if you can call it that), we are able to appreciate the Golden Age even more.
