Nazraana bheja kisi ne pyaar kaa

In “Des Pardes”, Pran goes to England as an immigrant and back home his wife Indrani Mukherji and Younger brother Dev Anand wait for any information from him. Dev Anand sings this song for Indrani Mukherji, informing her that Pran has sent a gift (Nazraana) from England.
So far so good. But why cannot this fact be picturise with all of them playing their age ? Dev saab decided to play half his age and forces Indrani Mukherji to play half her age too. Actors in their 50s behaving like they were in 20s is so jarring to the eyes that it spoils much of the effect of the song.
The song itself is very well sung by Kishore Kumar. Amit Khanna’s lyrics and Rajesh Roshan’s music is good. But unfortunately the picturisation is a let down. But that cannot be helped, not when it is Dev saab who refuses to accept that he was well past his prime. So it was a song that is better heard than seen. Of course one can see it for some laughs, though the picturisation was not intended to bring about that kind of response.
