Chaand churaa ke laaya hoon

“Devtaa” (1978) was a small budget off beat movie with Sanjeev Kumar and Shabana Azmi in lead roles. The movie itself did reasonably well with its small target audience, and then the movie was forgotten.
But this movie had a song that is not going to be forgotten in a hurry. This song “chaand churaake laayaa hoon” is a song that is still regarded as one of the more memorable songs of 1970s. This song was sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata and it was picturised on Sanjeev Kumar and Shabana Azmi. Gulzar was the lyricist and R D Burman composed the music.
The fact that this song is a collaboration of Gulzar and R D Burman means that this song has to be a great one, and indeed this song is a timeless classic, which one can listen to many a times, without feeling bored.
