There are several movies called Dillagi, but the earliest movie of this name that I am awre of is “Dillagi” (1949). This movie had Shyam,Suraiyya, Amar, Sharda, Amir Bano etc in it.

When one talks of “Safar”, I am reminded of a 1970 movie by this name starring Rajesh Khanna. But there was another movie by this name that was released in 1946. Not much is known about this movie, at least to me, but it seems that this movie had actors called Kanu Roy, S L Puri, V H Desai, Shobha etc. Naseem Akhtar (never heard of this name) was a singer in this movie.

“Sazaa”(1951) has a few very nice songs that I was aware of and whicch I have already posted. I stumbled upon another song from this movie about which I was just not aware. The song as well as the picturisation just bowled me over as soon as I got an opportunity to watch this song.

What I knew about “Taraanaa” (1951) was that the movie had Dilip Kumar and Madhubala in lead roles. But was that all ? there was more to it than just these two.

Bollywood movie songs of 1940s are of considerable importance and interest, because the singing legends of later decades were taking their first tentative steps in their singing careers at that time. For instance, Rafi was just two movies old as a playback singer when 1947 began. In 1947, he sang in “Do Bhai” and “Jugnu”.
