Kishore Kumar has sung songs for many actors. His songs in fact were a major reason for the success of many leading actors- for example Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan etc.
Kishore Kumar sang for many other actors too. In fact he sang some great songs for some lesser actors, but these actors failed to capitalise on such wonderful songs. The name of Randhir Kapoor readily comes to mind. Many great songs sung by Kishore Kumar for Randhir Kapoor went waste as far as the career of Randhir Kapoor was concerned.
But the eldest son of Raj Kapoor is at least remembered even today. Another star son, namely Kunal Goswami (son of Manoj Kumar) failed to have even that much luck.
Manoj Kumar introduced his son with much fanfare in a movie called “Kalaakaar” (1983) signing big names for this movie. Sreedevi, the leading actress of those days , was signed up to act opposite Kunal Kapoor. The leading musical team of the day was signed to compose music for this movie. But all that failed to help the cause of the movie and the movie turned out to be an epic disaster.
The movie failed big time at the box office, and with that the acting aspirations of Kunal Goswami ended. If this movie is still remembered today, then much of the credit for that goes to this particular song. What a nice song this one is !
PS-It has been pointed out by several readers that the music of this song (and this movie) was composed by Kalyanji Anandji. so Kalyanji Anandji it is.

Are you sure the music is by Bappi Lahiri? Ilayaraja composed a song in tamil called “Ilaya nila”, and the story goes that he lent this tune to Kalyanji-Anandji, who used it for this song.

with no doubt i can say that the song is a straight lift from ilayaraja sir’s ilayanila song…but the stanza’s are different..

The music directors for the song are Kalyanji Anandji. 110%
The reason people get confused is because he makes a personal appearance in the film.

This was kunal’s not debut movie. It was actually his third movie.
And the movie has southers directors and producers

Bappi lahiri only appeared as guest artist in this movie.
Kalyanaji Anandji are the music director of this movie

Wow, this is interesting! I was always under the impression that Kalakaar was scored by Kalyanji-Anandji. If it’s really Bappi’s, then I consider this is one of his finest compositions, although I do recall seeing somewhere that it was inspired by one of Illayaraja’s songs. Thanks for posting this one!
