Main joru ka ghulaam banke rahoongaa

I have posted a song from “Joru Ka Ghulaam” (1972) where Rajesh Khanna was the lead actor. Another movie of the same name was released in 2000, and guess who was the lead actor in this movie ? It was Twinkle Khanna, daughter of our beloved Kaka.
Here is the title song of “Joru Ka Ghulaam” (2000). It is an archtypical Govinda number. Yes, Govinda and Twinkle Khanna figure in this song. As we all know, Govinda carved a niche for himself in Bollywood in 1990s with movies that I call “David Dhawan” kind of movies. These movies had lots of slapstick comedy and songs. These movies were made supposedly for the front benchers but even I, a balcony sitter, was a big fan of such movies. Critics would often pan such movies for crudity, and I, lest I be suspected of being crude, would innocently agree with the critics. Now that the critics are nowhere in sight and the coast is clear, I am back to enjoy these movies (or more precisely, the songs of these movies).
The songs of such “David Dhawan” movies evolved and were fine tuned on Govinda and karishma Kapoor. Subsequently, any actress other than Karishma Kapoor knew what she had to do. She had to just follow in the footsteps of Karishma Kapoor. And that is what Twinkle Khanna does in this song.
This song, like most songs in these movies, had Govinda dancing with gutso and ably joined by Twinkle Khanna. Now, here is an actor who could actually dance (and not dense), and he enjoyed it too.
Abhijeet has sung this song with great enthusiasm and he is joined by Sunidhi Chauhan. Sameer is the lyricist and Aadesh Srivastava is the music composer. The lyrics of Samerr are quite funny. In this song, the hero declares that henceforth he has resolved to become a “joru ka ghulaam” (“an uxorious husband”/ a henpecked husband) and he will leave no stones unturned to achieve his goal.
This is a song that is bound to make you feel cheerful for the whole day.
