Ae chaand tu bataa de

Here is a song from a very old movie called “Humaayun” (1945). Now 1945 was a different era altogether. Those were the days when the legends of today were no longer legends and we had an entirely different set of legends those days.
This song “ae chaand tu bataa de” is sung by Rajkumari. What a nice voice she had ! This song is picturised on a very young looking Nargis. And one can get a glimpse of Chandramohan too in this song. Wow ! What a majestic looking actor ! And what screen presence he had !
This song is written by Shams Lucknowi and music is composed by Ghulam Haider. This song is a gem from the distant past of Hindi movies.
Song-Ae chaand tu bataa de (Humaayun) (1945) Singer-Rajkumari, Lyrics-Shams Lucknowi, MD-Ghulam Haider
Lyrics
ai chaand tu bataa de,
ai chaand tu bataa de,
mere dil ko
mere dil ko kayaa huaa hai
ae chaand tu bataa de
jaise hain daag tere waise hain daag mere
jaise hain daag tere waise hain daag mere
aapas mein miltaa jultaa
aapas mein miltaa jultaa donon kaa maajraa hai
ai chaand tu bataa de,
mere dil ko
mere dil ko kyaa huaa hai
ae chaand tu bataa de
kyaa raat hai suhaani taare bhi so rahe hain
kyaa raat hai suhaani taare bhi so rahe hain
ik gham hain dard-e-dil ke betaab ho rahe hain
ik gham hain dard-e-dil ke betaab ho rahe hain
ye kaun saa maraz hai aur is ki kyaa dawaa hai
ae chaand tu bataa de
mere dil-o-jigar mein shole bhadak rahe hain
mere dil-o-jigar mein shole bhadak rahe hain
aur wo wahin pe baithe paani chhidak rahe hain
ye kaise roz-e-ulafat kuchh bujh ke jal rahaa hai
ae chaand tu bataa de
mere dil ko
mere dil ko kyaa huaa hai
ae chaand tu bataa de
