When you are young, you only like to listen to “modern” songs and hate listening to old songs calling them boring. Here is a song that was old even by my standards of 1970s when I was growing up. But show me a song that could be more modern than this by now 51 year old song.
Here is this amazingly modern song from “Love Marriage” (1959). I had never heard this song before, though I have posted songs from this movie. I became aware of this song just one hour ago when I read the farmaish of this song from Sid. What a song !
Here is this song from”‘Love Marriage” (1959). Lyrics of the song by Shailendra are what make this a fabulous song. And then the singing by Geeta Dutt and Rafi are just wonderful. And the music composed by Shankar Jaikishan is so timelessly fresh to listen to.
As for the pictursation, the song is picturised as a stage show where a few dancers dance, led by a pretty young looking Helen. I am not aware who the male dancer lip syncing in Rafi’s voice is. Can anyone help identify him ? The picturisation also show Dev Anand and Mala Sinha seated among the audience, enjoying this performance, with Dev saab enjoying the show far more that Mala Sinha would like. 😀
Here is this fantastic song which I heard (and watched) for the first time just today, after the passage of only 51 years since this song was created.

The codancer with Helan in “Dil se dil takraye” is Dance Director Suryakumar. This is beautiful SJ melody. 👌

It was very popular song in 1959. Male character is Dance Director Surya Kumar. Looking like young keshto mukerjee
