I yearn for the day in future when my readers will struggle to think of songs to give as farmaishes, because most of the songs would already have appeared in the blog. 😉 We are nowhere near that stage at present, of course.
But at least as far as the songs of Sajjad Hussain are concerned, we are almost there. I have discussed 28 songs composed by Sajjad Hussain in this blog, and I only have some seventy odd more songs to go, and several of these remaining songs are not readily available. So my readers may not be able to think of too many Sajjad Hussain songs to give as farmaishes. 😀
Here is a Sajjad Hussain song that was given as a farmaish. This song is from “Halchal” (1951). It is sung by Lata and I guess that it was picturised in the movie on Nargis. Khumar Barabankwi is the lyricist.
The song is a sentimental song, and listening to this song is a nice and divine experience. In fact, Sajjad Hussain himself regarded this song as his best creation.

song-Aaj mere naseeb ne mujhko rulaa rulaa diyaa (Halchal) (1951) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Khumar Barabankwi, MD-Sajjad Hussain
Lyrics
aaj mere naseeb ne mujhko rulaa rulaa diyaa
aaj mere naseeb ne mujhko rulaa rulaa diyaa
beete dinon ki yaad ne phir meraa dil dukhaa diyaa
aaj mere naseeb ne mujhko rulaa rulaa diyaa
loot liyaa meraa karaar phir bhi ye-bekaraar ne
loot liyaa meraa karaar phir bhi ye-bekaraar ne
dard ne mere chain ko khaaq mein phir milaa diyaa
aaj mere naseeb ne mujhko rulaa rulaa diyaa
laaun kahaan se main wo dil
laaun kahaan se main wo dil
unko jo pyaar kar sake
jisme base huye thhey wo,
maine wo dil ganwaa diyaa
aaj mere naseeb ne mujhko rulaa rulaa diyaa
ashq jo thhey ruke ruke,
aaj wo phir baras pade
ashq jo thhey ruke ruke,
aaj wo phir baras pade
ae meri naamuraadiyon,
tumne mujhe mitaa diyaa
aaj mere naseeb ne mujhko rulaa rulaa diyaa
beete dinon ki yaad ne phir meraa dil dukhaa diyaa
aaj mere naseeb ne mujhko rulaa rulaa diyaa
Superb song.
Sajjad Hussain was master of a number of musical instruements : Violin , Veena , Jaltarang , Flute , Piano , Banjo , Accordian , Hawaiin & Spanish Guitar , Sitar , Clarinet , Harp and Mandolin. He could play classical ragas on Mandolin with perfection.

The credits in the movie title list Sajjad and Shafi as the Music directors. Shafi as I gather from other sites is Mohammed Shafi. Does anyone know which songs were composed by Sajjad and which by Shafi? Or did they share the work and credit like SJ, LP etc?
The song does seem similar to many other Sajjad songs esp. from Khel and Saiyan.
Yes, the details of which songs were composed by which Music directors are available. I have only discussed those songs from the movie (three songs) which were composed by Sajjad Hussain.
This blog discusses Bollywood songs of yesteryears. Every song has a brief description, followed by a video link, and complete lyrics of the song. This is a labour of love, where “new” songs are added every day, and that has been the case for over SEVENTEEN years. This blog has more than 19700 song posts by now. This blog is active and online for over 6000 days since its beginning on 19 July 2008.
