Andhere mein jo baithhe hain

“Sambandh” (1969) was a movie based on a Bangla novel. This movie had Pradeep Kumar,Deb Mukherji,Anjana Manjrekar (later Anjana Mumtaz),Sulochana etc in it. The movie was produced by Shashdhar Mukherji to launch the acting career of his son Deb Mukherji, just as he had helped launch the career of his eldest son Joy Mukherji one decade back with a home production movie, viz ‘Love in Shimla” (1960).
This movie had music by O P Nayyar, who was then into the fag end of his career and he was left with friends. Even his close associates viz Asha Bhonsle and Rafi had got estranged with him at that time.
In this movie, O P Nayyar composed music that sounds so different from the usual O P Nayyar music, and that too by using singers and lyricist who were not his usual choices in the past. But the music that O P Nayyar created in this movie towards the end of his career was arguably the best music that he created in his long and illustrious career.
I have discussed two songs from this movie in the past. Here is another song from this movie. This song is sung by Mahendra Kapoor. This song is written by Pradeep. It was the first time that Pradeep was writing lyrics for O P Nayyar.
The result between these uneasy music partners was quite magical, not only in this song, but also in the other songs of this movie. All these songs which were written by Pradeep and sung by Mahendra Kapoor and Mukesh, went on to become classics.

This is a song I remember from my childhood days. Very well sung by Mahendra Kapoor. I like this song a lot.
Congrats to MK on reaching a century here on your blog. That’s another artiste reaching this milestone!
