“Anurodh” (1977) is a movie that paired erstwhile superstar Rajesh Khanna with Simple Kapadia, his sister in law. The movie did not do as well as was expected of this movie. But what lovely songs this movie had ! In fact, this movie is remembered today mainly for its songs.
I have already discussed four songs from this movie. Here is the fifth song. Like most other songs of this movie, this song too is a song sung by Kishore Kumar. Unlike most other songs , which were stage song/ microphone songs, where Rajesh Kumar was shown lip syncing the song on a stage, this song is a radio song.
Yes, this song gets played on a radio as Simple Kapadia switches on her radio. Movie actors those days tended to be able to get to listen to the song sung by their beloved immediately as soon as they switched on their radio. And in case the song was being broadcast live, the listener would reach the radio station by the end of the song as well (viz the title song of Barsaat Ki Raat). Personally I needed to spend lots of time to get the radio station of my choice on my radio. 🙂 And reaching the local radio station within 3 minutes was out of question as well. Though it must be said that subsequently I have been to places where radio stations were at a stone’s throw distance away from where I was staying. But I never threw stones at those radio stations, nor did I feel the urge to go there. 🙂
