“Yaadgaar” (1970) was a production of S Ram Films. It was directed by S Ram Sharma. Cast of the movie had names like Manoj Kumar, Nutan, Pran,Tiwari, Kamini Kaushal, Junior Mehmood, Prem Chopra, Madan Puri, Mohan Choti, Lolita Chatterjee, Asit Sen, Laxmi Chhaaya, Shammi, Manmohan etc.
This movie was one the earliest movies where Manoj Kumar plays an idealist “Bharat” and sets out to reform the country.
This movie had some lovely songs in it which were hugely popular at that time. My personal favourite from this movie was Iktaara bole sun sun kuchh kahe wo tumse. Incidentally, I was not aware those days that this movie was from this movie called “Yaadgaar” (1970). In fact I had not heard of this movie even though I heard this song many a times. That is how it is with kids less than ten years old that I was at that time.
Here is another song from this movie which I was not aware of at that time. I heard this song for the first time only just now when I went through the lyrics of this song which were sent to me by Mrs Bhatt.
This song is an extremely melodious song which is sung by Lata. It is picturised on Nutan and Manoj Kumar. Nutan, who paired with Manoj Kumar for the first and only time is seen requesting Manoj Kumar to make her his companion on his chosen path.
The lyrics by Indeewar are nice to listen to, though the lyrics may not fully meet with the approval of feminists.
