During the discussion on Rajkumari on the occasion of her death anniversary, it was mentioned that she sang her last song as a playback singer in “Kitaab”(1977).
Here is that last song of Rajkumari. This song is written by Gulzar and it is composed by R D Burman. The song is picturised on Dina Pathak and Master Raju.
The voice suits Dina Pathak so nicely that she seems to be singing in her own voice. That is what many people may think if they are not aware about the singer.

Lovely lullaby.
I think Doshaala(protection) = shawl
Loyee = liya
kool= kal = tomorrow (could be)
You will observe that the whole song is sung with Bangla intonation and hence the above confusion

Dushala is a thick embroidered sheet to be wrapped around oneself. Loi is also a woollen homespun shawl (Gandhi Ashram uses this term).
‘kool’ also means the shore or river bank- perhaps allusion is to crossing of the bhavsagar to the other world.

isn’t it surprising to see Dina Pathak sing. but i don’t think the the playback doesn’t sit on Dina. though the song by itself is melodious. (it took me sometime to realise that DP was actually lip syncing )

This song is based on the traditional Bengali kirtan song rendered by Aarti Mukherjee. Even the meaning of lyrics seems to be more or less the same as that of the Hindi song. Audio clip below.

:”MUKTHI DAAN”(it is not “mothi daan “, as I have wrongly written)Please check the correctness of the lyrics.
And anyone know the meaning of words used in this song:”Doshalaa”,”Loyee” & “kool”.????
