Aa meri aankhon ki gehraayee mein

“Pyaar Ka Bandhan” (1963) was an N S Films production. It was produced and directed by NS, where NS stood for Naresh Saigal. The movie had Raj Kumar, Nishi,Helen, Naaz,Dhumal, Pratima Devi, Jagdish Raaj, Johnny Walker etc in it.
I have discussed two songs from this movie in the past. Here is another song from the movie. This song is a rather “different” kind of a song. A fashionable dressed Helen enters a club, whereas Rajkumar, dressed in a dhoti and playing a rustic stays outside. While singing and dancing commemnces inside the dance floor, the camera focusses on Raj Kumar’s face and then the face begins to blur, which means that Raj Kumar is entering into the fantasy land. And Lo and behold, Raj Kumar begins imagining himself of being in the dance floor with Helen, dressed in suit and boot (though continuing to look like a rustic even in that dress).
While Helen sings and dances in her usual cabarat style, Raj Kumar too sticks to his usual style. He sings and dances in drunkard style. This song I suppose could be called a combination song, which is half cabarat song and half ghazal.
This song is written by Naqsh Llayalpuri. Music is composed by Ravi.

Lyrics
aa aa ha
aa aa aa ha
aa meri aankhon ki gehraayee
mein aakar doob jaa
gar tamanna hai khushi ki
muskuraa kar doob jaa
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
main kyun doob jaaun
kinaare bahut hain
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
kisi manchale ka
bharam todne ko
machalti hawaaon ka rukh modne ko
kisi manchale ka
bharam todne ko
machalti hawaaon ka rukh modne ko
hamaari nazar ke ishaare bahut hain
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
tumhaari adaaon ko
pehchaanta hoon
tumhaari adaaon ko
pehchaanta hoon
tumhen tumse behtar to
main jaanta hoon
nihgaahen salaamat
nazaare bahut hain
haay
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
yehi pe dekh lo agar
na tum ko yaqeen ho
hamaari nazron mein tumhi ek nahin ho
yehi pe dekh lo agar
na tum ko yaqeen ho
hamaari nazron mein tumhi ek nahin ho
isi anjuman mein hamaare bahut hain
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
andhera hai lekin
mujhe gham nahin hai
andhera hai lekin
mujhe gham nahin hai
ke ummeed ki roshni kam nahin hain
mere aasmaan par sitaare bahut hain
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
main kyun doob jaaun
kinaare bahut hain
haay
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
abhi zindagi ke sahaare bahut hain
ye mehfil bahaaron ki
mehfil nahin hai
ye manzil ka dhokha hai
manzil nahin hai
ye mehfil bahaaron ki
mehfil nahin hai
ye manzil ka dhokha hai
manzil nahin hai

This is an absolutely AWESOME song! I first heard this while on youtube about 3-4 years ago and fell in love with it rightaway. I think I may even have sent a farmaish to you, Atul, I don’t remember. Then I forgot all about it.
Am SO happy to see it again here. Lovely changes of pacein the song. It is like Steyn bowling pace and then bowling his slower delivery. 😉 Also reminds me of yunh na sharma (Parwana). Lovely song, that one too.
Thanks so much for posting this, Atul.
Btw, I see on earthmusic that this is Naqsh Lyallpuri’s lyrics. Not saying they are right but just want to double-check. Does sound like Sahir. 🙂 Maybe somebody can confirm this.
