Chaand mere kyun door khadaa sharmaaye

“Chandralekha” (1948), originally a Tamil movie, was remade in Hindi with original actors of the Tamil movie and it turned out to be a big success in Hindi too.
The music director of the Tamil version was retained, but the singers and the lyricist necessaily had to come from Hindi movies.
I have discussed four songs from “Chandralekha” (1948) in the past. Here is the fifth song from this movie.
Uma Devi, who later went on to become well known as Tuntun was born today (11 july). She was the lead female playback singer in this movie.
Here is a song sung by her in this movie. It is picturised on Rajkumari. I thank Mani Menon for this identification.
Pt Indra Chandra is the lyricist. Music is composed by S Rajeshwar Rao.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.
Song-Chaand mere kyun door khadaa sharmaaye (Chandralekha)(1948) Singer-Uma Devi, Lyrics-Pt Indra Chandra, MD-S Rajeshwar Rao
Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)
o o o
o o o
chaand mere
chaand mere kyun door khada sharmaaye
kyun aankh milaake badli mein chhup jaaye
chhup jaaye
chhup jaaye
o
o o o
mast fizaayen
sard hawaayen
preet ke geet sunaayen
hum hon
tum ho
tanhaayi ho
shabnam pyaas bujhaaye
ae ae ae
o o o
chaand mere kyun door khada shrmaaye
kyun aankh milaake badli mein chhup jaaye
chhup jaaye
chhup jaaye
ae ae ae
o
o o o o
dil ki dhadkan
sun le re saajan aake
ae ae ae aake
dil ki dhadkan
sun le re saajan aake
ae ae ae aake
aaj ki ratiyaan
aane ki nahin jaake
ae ae ae jaake
nadi kinaare papeeha pukaare
baag mein bulbul gaaye
baag mein bulbul gaaye
ae ae
o o o o
chaand mere
chaand mere kyun door khada shrmaaye
kyun aankh milaake badli mein chhup jaaye
chhup jaaye
chhup jaaye
ae ae ae
o
o o o

This song can’t have been picturised on M R Radha as he was not in this movie. The hero however, was M K Radha! It is Rajkumari, the heroine, who lip syncs this song in the movie.
