“Shaukeen” (1982) was an comedy in the sense that it depicted the tale of three oldtimers who are on the lookout for young female company but with disastrous and supposedly funny results. This movie had Mithun Chakravarthy, Ashok Kumar, Jayshree.T., Utpal Dutt, A K Hangal ,Geeta Siddharth, Minaalini,Rati Agnihotri etc in it.
Personally I did not like the movie but most moviegoers found the movie funny.
This movie had music by R D Burman which meant that the movie had some nice songs in it.
Today (7 august) is the birthday of Suresh Wadkar. Suresh Wadkar had made his playback debut a couple of years back and he had a long and rather sedate career as a playback singer. He never reached the top but he continued to sing songs almost unnoticed.
Here is a song from “Shaukeen” (1982). It is sung by Suresh Wadkar. Thogh I had heard this song in the past including while watching the movi but I had never paid much attention to this song. Now when I paid attention to this song then I realised that it has been sung nicely by Suresh Wadkar. R D Burman has composed a lively music and Suresh Wadkar was required to sing it Kishore Kumar style. This song was picturised on Mithun Chakraborty who poses as a Taxi driver of the three Shaukeen buddhas played by Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and A K Hangal.
The song is written by Yogesh. When I watched this picturisation again (three decades afer watching the picturisation in a movie hall), I realised that the song was a nicely picturised song. I feel that this is a nice song to listen to while undertaking a long journey.

Song-Wahi chal mere dil khushi jisne dee hai (Shaukeen)(1982) Singer-Suresh Wadkar, Lyrics-Yogesh, MD-R D Burman
Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)
ho
wahi chal mere dil
khushi jissne dee hai
tujhe pyaar ki
zindagi
jissne dee hai
wahi chal mere dil
khushi jissne dee hai
tujhe
pyaar ki
zindagi
jissne dee hai
lalaaa
laaaalalalaaa
mausam ho koyee bhi
jab woh yaad aaye
halki dhoop chhalki
baadal khoob chhaaye
khayaalon ko yeh
bekhudi
ussne dee hai
wahi chal mere dil
khushi jissne dee hai
tujhe
pyaar ki
zindagi
jissne dee hai…..
lalaaaa
laaaa lalalaaaa
saanson pe likhaa hai
unnkaa naam aise
ambar pe sajee hai
har din shaam jaise
mujhe mastiyaan
har ghadi ussne dee hai
wahi chal mere dil
khushi jissne dee hai
tujhe
pyaar ki
zindagi
jissne dee hai
lalaaaa
laaaa laaaalaaalaa
woh hai
toh jawaan hai
saare ye nazaare
kaliyaan mehki mehki
gunchche pyaare pyaare
bahaaron ko ye
taazgi
ussne dee hai
wahi chal mere dil
khushi jissne dee hai
tujhe
pyaar ki
zindagi
jissne dee hai
lalaaaa
laaaa laalaalaaaaaaa

I just posted this song on one of the groups. I had heard it a couple of times on radio but saw it for the first time when I saw the movie few months ago. It’s my favourite song from this movie. It’s a very soothing song
Suresh was required to sing it like Kishore? It is because Kishore refused to sing it since it was being picturised on Mithun?

Kishore Kumar had sung in this movie. I suppose it was for one of the buddhas, so one needed another voice for Mithun Chakraborty.

Jab Bhi Koi Kangna Bole was credit/background song, with Ashok Kumar in the frame.
In any case, Vijay Benedict benefited because Kishore Da wont sing for Mithun in those days, and Bappi Da also flourished singing for Mithun, before the patch-up between Mithun and Kishore Da.

Some gossip magazines at that time published,Kishore not singing for Mithun Chakraborthy, because of Kishore`s 3rd wife married then budding actor Mithun chakraborthy.
But one of the last songs recorded by Kishore is for “Waqt Ki Awaaz”(Mithun,Sridevi,Moushumi chatterjee starrer)”(Ladka akela, ladki akeli-asha,Kishore duet)Am I right???
