“Imaan Dharam” (1977) was produced under the banner of Suchitra Productions. Premji was the producer and the movie was directed by Desh Mukherji. The movie was a big multistarrer with names like Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Sanjeev Kumar, Aparna Sen, Shashi Kapoor, Helen, Amrish Puri, Prem Chopra, Om Shiv Puri, Utpal Dutt, A K Hangal, Shetty, Sudhir, Amar Nath, C S Dube, Raj Kishore, Mac Mohan, Jagdish Raaj, Satyen Kappu, Pinchoo Kapoor, Shreeram Lagoo, Mohan Sherry, Baby Rani, Kamal Deep, Kumud Tripathi, Sajjan, Gajanan Jagirdar, Deepak, Prakash Thapa, Chandu, Amar, Nazir Kashmiri, Zahoor,Behari,Nazir Kashimiri,Dhanna,Billa etc in it.
The movie fell flat at the box office because of a very week story line and poor direction. I had watched the movie in a movie hall and I found the movie intolerable. I do not recall if I actually watched the whole movie or walked out at the interval. In any case I do not recall much of the movie when I watched it.
I was not much aware of the songs of this movie either. Now with the passage of time I am willing to give the songs of this movie the benefit of doubt.
Here is a song from “Imaan Dharam” (1977) which I do not recall being aware of in the past. It just proves my point that I made earlier that I did not recall anything about this movie despite having spent Rs 3.90 on buying a ticket of this movie in late 1970s.
The song is sung by Lata. It is picturised on a visually impaired Aparna Sen who is given to understand (wrongly) by Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor that she has been chosen to be a singer by a recording company. Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor make her sing in an empty hall and they play recording of applause at opportune moments making Aparna Sen belive that she is performing in a packed auditorium.
Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

Ab main shabdon ko jodnaa shuroo karoongaa, jo aksar mujhe artificial aur formal lagthe hain, So I will leave my beqaar kaa effort here itself.
