On the occasion of Ram Navami today (19 april 2013), here is a song from “Jai Hanumaan” (1948). This rare song is sung by Mohammad Hussain Farooqui. Pt Indra Chandra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Bulo C Rani.

Song-Ab raam raaj ki aage suno kahaani (Jai Hanuman)(1948) Singer-Mohammad Hussain Farooqui, Lyrics-Pt Indra Chandra, MD-Bulo C Rani
Lyrics (Provided by Nitin Shah)
ab raam raaj ki aage suno kahaani
ab raam raaj ki aage suno kahaani
peete thhe gaai sinh ek ghaat per paani
peete thhe gaai sinh ek ghaat per paani
ab raam raaj ki aage suno kahaani
ab raam raaj ki aage suno kahaani
thhaa raja aur praja mein prem niraala
sab ek dor mein bandhe jo moti maala
jab beete baras anek bade sukhdaayi
ek dhobhi ne tab awadh mein aag lagaai
aag lagaai
banwaasin ho gayi phir se sita raani
ab raam raaj ki aage suno kahaani
ab raam raaj ki aage suno kahaani
rishi baalmiki ke yahaan
rahi sukumaari
wo sada seenchti ansuwan se phulwaari
lav kush ka janam hua
sita lehraayi
phoolo ke sang sang khile
bade gau bhai
dharti mein sama gayi phir siya sayaani
ab raam raaj ki aage suno kahaani
ab raam raaj ki aage suno kahaani
Interestingly, many wellknown bhajans are rendered by Muslims and in many cases penned and music composed by them as well. Any background on Farooqui Saab? Excellent choice for Ram Navmi. (I am told that Ram Navmi is tomorrow though many others are celebrating it today.)
Beautiful – ‘peete thhe gaai sinh ek ghaat per paani’.. (it was then, and today?, ab to do aadmi bhi ek ghaat par paani nahin peete) !
thanks !
@Seshardri ji – many places ‘ram navmi’ was celebrated on 20 th also, may be the ‘tithhi’ overlapped for two days..
