“Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya”(1966) was a movie whose songs were several notches superior to the movie. In other words, the movie did not deserve the songs that it had.
The movie ended up a box office disaster, and deservedly so. But what fantastic songs this movie had. The debutant music director duo of Sonik Omi created music that has become memorable. In fact, it is the music of this movie that has ensured that the movie is remembered to this day.
The movie itself had big names in it. It had Nutan, Dharmendra, Rehman, Jeevan, I S Johar, Bela Bose, Laxmi Chhaya, Mumtaz Begum, TunTun, Niranjan Sharma, Ravikant, JeevanKala, Madhumati, Pal Sharma, Brahm Bhardwaj, Sunder, Randheer etc in it. But the producer B L Rawal and director C L Rawal created a movie that wasted all the acting and musical talents that they had at their disposal. What a criminal waste of all this talent !
As many as seven songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the eighth song from the movie.
This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. It is picturised as a piano song in family get together. It is Dharmendra who is seated at the grand piano while Nutan lip syncs the spong in Asha Bhonsle’s voice. The picturisation also shows Rehman, among others.
