Beautiful bhajan and often used in films. Lata alone has sung it at least in two more films. Vani Jairam in Gulzar’s Meera. Wonder if M. S. Subbulakshmi also sang it in Meera (1947)?

In 1947, two films were released, based on the life of Meera. One was titled ‘Meera’ with MSS playing the lead role, and has also sung all the 18 bhajans in this film. “Jo Tum Todo Piyaa. . .” is not included.

The other film is ‘Meerabai’, which has 13 bhajans, all sung by Sitara (Kanpur). This film does contain “Jo Tum Todo Piyaa. . .”.

From 1931 to 1980, there have been nine Hindi films made on the life of Meera. This bhajan appears only in two – 1947 ‘Meerabai’ (Sitara Kanpur) and 1979 ‘Meera’ (Vani Jairam).
