Aaj mera man been bajaaye

Posted on: October 7, 2013

Regulars of the blog may have noticed that the rate of posting of songs in the blog was lower than usual for the last few days and that my own posts hardly contained any detailed discussions, unlike the articles of guest posters.

It is not that I have run out of things to say. In fact, I have so much material available for me to discuss that discussing them will take considerable time. It is paucity of time that has so far discouraged me from writing longer posts.

Some of the regulars may be aware from my previous posts etc that I was in New Delhi for the last one week. Now I am going back (I am on the train right now) and this will hopefully give me some time for longer writeups where I would like to discuss the latest developments etc.

I had come to Delhi to participate in an industrial exhibition called 10th IREE that took place from 3 to 5 october 2013 at the Pragati Maidan. In my younger days, I had visited Pragati maidaan as a visitor. I never imagined at that time that some day I will find myself participating in one such exhibition not as a visitor but as an exhibitor, viz as the owner of a stall. 🙂 My stall got unexpectedly good response from visitors.

A few days before leaving for New Delhi, I had got a call from an unknown number. When I attended the call, the caller said- “I am Khyati speaking”. Now the only Khyati I am aware of is our blog regular Khyati Bhatt. So naturally I asked- “From US ?”. Yes, it was indeed Khyati Bhatt from US. We talked for some time. Then I left for office. There we talked some more. I did not realise it at that time, but later when I thought about it, we had covered lots and lots of topics of mutual interest during these two conversations.

I told her that I was leaving for Delhi in a few days time. She said that she was envious of India based regulars who could meet each other just like that- viz by taking a short journey from one place to another. Sudhir ji pointed out that it may be true in case of our meetings because I often came to Delhi on official business, but he himself has not been able to visit Mumbai in the last two years (where several of our regulars are based).

I arrived at New Delhi in the afternoon of 30 september and from then onwards I got extremely busy. I managed to meet Sudhir ji only during noon of second october. He arrived to meet me just as I finshed posting the article on Mahatma Gandhi.

It may be a National holiday that day but in fact people like me were working on that day to get their stalls readied for the exhibition that was to begin from the next day. So we could only spend a couple of hours together, with a plan to meet the next day at evening.

But I found that we were unable to meet for the next two days for various reasons. 5 october was my last full day at New Delhi and I decided to utilise this last opportunity and met Sudhir jee. This time we spend over four hours and had some extremely fruitful discussions concerning the blog.

During our discussions, we browsed some sites and made a few discoveries that were rather shocking. We found that several US sites, like for instance NASA site was shut down citing withdrawal of Government funding as the reason for it ! In India we are used to bandhs, but they are called by opposition and they normally last for a day but here it was the Government of US that was in fact observing a bandh there and that too for an indefinite period ! If NASA sites are shut down for lack of funds then what about the projects of NASA that require much more funding ? It is interesting to realise that US too can compete and in fact beat third world countries hollow in such matters. 🙂

And the second discovery that we made was more shocking for us. We found that a couple of sites are copying and pasting our content without permission. As soon as an article is posted in this blog, it gets copied in these sites in a matter of minutes. Going by the layout, both these sites seem to be owned by the same person. In one of these sites, the content is copied verbatim, whereas the other site makes some slight modification in the content but everything else, including the name of the contributor remains same as in this blog. It is a case of blatant online daylight robbery. Sudhir jee was shocked to find his content being posted in these two sites without his knowledge and of course permission, which is a clear case of plagiarism and piracy of our intellectual property.

I discussed this matter with Sudhir Jee who was equally shocked at this breach of intellectual property right. Imagine Sudhir Jee keeping awake till early morning to prepare an article meant for thi blog and these two pirating sites lifting the content verbatim a few minutes after the post appeared in this blog. In fact each and every article that was posted this month in this blog was pirated by these two sites.

We decided that I should try to contact the owners of this site, who going by the identical nature of the two sites appears to be one single individual. I was unable to find any contact information in these sites and even comments were switched off in one of these sites.

I spent almost the whole day of my journey yesterday finding out about the ways to report these two sites for piracy. It turned out that these two sites are hosted by two different hosts. I sent email to the hosts of these sites bringing this fact to their notice.

Let us hope that the hosts take apprpriate action as is requited to be taken in cases of such online thefts. I have forwarded the copies of email to the contributors too, whose articles have been posted in these two pirating sites without our knowledge and consent.

In all this discussion, the song under discussion was almost becoming a non issue. This song is from “Gawaiyya” (1954). It was an R B Pictures production and it was directed by H P Sharma. The movie had Surendra, Vijaylaxmi, Sunder, Sulochana Chatterji, Sapru, Heera Sawant, Kumkum etc in it. The song is sung by Talat Mehmood. Lyrics are written by Chandrashekhar Pandey. Music is composed by Ram Ganguly.

Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to say how and on whom this song is picturised.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

keh na sakey par jo thha kehna

kaisa thha unka muskaana
kaisa thha unka muskaana
hansna thha ya bijli giraana
hansna thha ya bijli giraana
mast adaa aur wo bholaapan
mast adaa aur wo bholaapan
bhoole nahin bhulaaye ae
bhoole nahin bhoolaaye ae ae
dil ki lagi ko wohi jaane
dil ki lagi ko wohi jaane
dil jo kisi se lagaaye ae ae
dil jo kisise lagaaye

Atulji,
Thank you for writing an informative post for this song. It was a great pleasure talking to you. I was thrilled and still can’t believe that I got the opportunity to talk to the person, who works immensely to keep this blog alive, who shares his time, passion, knowledge with all Hindi song lovers and gives all other contributors an equal opportunity to share their love for the same.
Thank you Atulji for all your love and devotion for this blog.

Atul,
This kind of piracy is a big menace. Your site is so well known that the guys who are doing it are not going to get any credit. It is sheer stupidity on their part. Please do expose them on your blog with full details. Public opprobrium can be one deterrent to people who have some shame.

Thanks for your support. These sites are still continuing to plagiarise. Even this article has been copied by those sites. I have informed the names of these sites to the contributors of this blog. I will soon give full details in another article. It will be interesting to watch these sites carrying that article as well.

I remember very well on Talat saab’s birthday in 1985 I and my one friend were sitting with him,we both had heard THIS song on radio ceylone ,so I asked abt this song he told me he had ONLY ONE REHERSAL ,and song was recorded. After meeting I heard song again and relised that this song too was example of MINIMUM INSTRUMENTS .Though it was semi classical based. This song reminds me RADIO CEYLONE.
