There are quite a few good to very good actors who were eclipsed when the Amitabh Bachchan wave hit Bollywood in the 70s. Some tried doing a few solo movies before doing multi star cast movies with AB as the main character. So much so that they didn’t mind being overshadowed by the Bachchan. Who can forget Amar Akbar Anthony (1977)? Manmohan Desai made a movie with the story being about 3 brothers. But people thought that Bachchan’s Anthony was the prominent character. And inspite of being a diehard Bachchan fan I love to see the scenes of AMAR in the movie. Specially the scene in the jail where he questions Robert’s men about who shot the police commissioner (played by Kamal Kapoor). There are other parts in the movie featuring Vinod Khanna (who played Amar) that stand out.
There was another small movie in 1977 which was not as successful as “AAA” but was a Vinod Khanna solo. With a very hay-wired story line. This movie had music by Bappi Lahiri. And the song writer was Shailey Shailendra. The songs were very popular specially the song which is posted here. It showed that VK was a decent dancer without Dharamendra’s 2 Left Feet, or Shashi Kapoor’s “Angdayis” or Rajesh Khanna’s “Patte baantna” steps or Amitabh’s Bhagwan dada style of dance. The only two people (in that set of stars) who fooled the public into believing that they could dance were Jeetendra and Rishi Kapoor.

@ Peevesie’s mom ji- nice post !! this song was very frequent on loud speakers in those days… and yes, enjoyed, the dance patterns of the respective actors as you mentioned 🙂

The actor who get bashed up is Kuljeet/Kuljit Singh(a manoj kumar favourite), other actors who feature in the song:
