“Baazaar Band Karo” (1974), though a recent movie by the standards of this blog was a movie I knew nothing about when I lived through 1974. This obscure movie was produced and directed by B R Ishara who had the reputation of making sleazy movies meant to titillate, if movie reviewers of Hindi magazines that I read were to be believed.
This movie had starcast:Aravind Kirad, Madhu Manjrekar, Hardeep, Manhar Desai, Asha chandra, Sarita, Jugnu, Sunil Dhawan etc in it and it is safe to assert that the actors of this movie are as obscure as the movie itself.
Among all the individuals associated with this movie, one individuals who is the most well known today is Bappi Lahiri.
Today (27 november 2013) is the 61st birth anniversary of Bappi Lahiri (DOB 27 november 1952) who was then a newcomer and was into his earlier days as a music director.
Here is a forgotten song from this obscure movie. It is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Naqsh Llayalpuri is the lyricist.
Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to say how and on whom this song was picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

This was a well made film, but failed to hit the box office & it flopped miserably!
Hero Arvind Kirad looked very promising, but couldn’t do much in Hindi films, & later became a popular star of Gujarati films. Heroine Madhu Manjrekar was the younger sister of Actress Anjana Mumtaz. This was her first, & I think the only film!! Famous Gujarati star Manhar Desai had a good role as the father of the heroine.
