Amar Samaadhi was due to some unknown reasons, an unreleased film of sixties, but this marvellous music composition is evergreen and does not need any labels for its supreme quality of music. It was produced under the banner of Atre Pictures and directed by Shahu Modak. Shyama and Shahu Modak were the leading team, but little is known about the other star cast. Vasant Desai composed music to the lyrics of Bharat Vyas. It seems that at least three songs were recorded, a Lata solo (Poonam ki chanderi raaton mein) a Lata Rafi duet (Aaj ke prabhaat ki paheli kiran) and this RaagaMaala.
Vasant Desai was an outstanding composer. He had great knowledge of classical music, and used it to create some immortal compositions. It is one thing to create a classical composition, but quite another to invite some of the most respected performing artistes in Hindustani classical, be it gayaki or tantrakari, and earn their respect. Vasant Desai regularly partnered with these stalwarts to produce some great gems.
A very rare RaagaMaala in my series of ‘RaagaMaalas in Hindi Films’ is a duet by Khansaheb Salamat Ali, (One of the’Nazakat Ali – Salamat Ali’ Ustad Brothers of Pakistan) and Surshree Lata Mangeshkar. I presume the composition to be in Guru-Shishya tradition and is a bouquet of five prominent Hindustani Classical Raagas: Lalit, Shuddha Saarang , Yaman, Maarwaa and Adaana in the form a hidden RaagaMaala.
I have not been able to decipher some ‘bols’ in Adaana Tarana. Listeners with good ability as well as knowledge may help to correct the lyrics.
Lovers of Classical music will enjoy this unique composition. As far as I am concerned, I am spellbound by the ‘raagadaaries’ of these two stalwarts and request you all to enjoy.

Bharatji,
Bahot bahot shukriya ! A full last page ad used to come in Atre’s NAVYUG (Marathi Weekly) of this movie in 1956 .In one of the issues Acharya Atre himself wrote about its music in his usual style. We were waiting for the release of this movie.For some unknown reasons the film went in dibba And now to hear this song! What a surprising experience and lovely too. Thank you again.

This song is included by Lata in her album ‘ Aapki sewa mein….main aur mere saathi ‘.
You will find many such Gems in this album.
