“Holiday in Bombay”(1941) was directed by S Badami for Sudama Productions, Bombay. This forgotten movie had Sabita Devi, Shobhana Samarth, arun, Vatsala Kumthekar, E Bilimoria, Jaal Merchant, Ghory etc in it.
This movie had nine obscure songs in it. One of these songs has been discussed in the past.
Here is the second song from “Holiday in Bombay”(1941) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by an unknown female voice. Though there were four lyricists in this movie but the lyricist of this song (in fact eight of the songs of the movie) is unknown. Khemchand Prakash is the music director.
The singer sounds like a professional ghazal singer (or so) who may have been roped in to sing this filmy song. Only the audio of this song is available. My guess is that this song may have been picturised as a mujra song.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the identity of the singer of this song which to my mind is a forgotten gem of a song.
PS-Sadanand Kamath ji tells us that the voice sounds like Vatsala Kumthekar who figures in the cast of this movie. So now I have considered it as an actor-singer song sung and performed by Vatsala Kumthekar.

Atul ji,
The voice of the singer sounds like Vatsala Kumthekar who has acted in this film. She was a trained singer and specialised in mujra types of songs in the films of the 1940s.
