“Parinde”(1945) was produced and directed by Acharya Atre for Atre Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Surendra, Vanmala, Dixit, Babu rao Pendharkar, Sitara, Sunalini Devi, Balwant Parchure, D R Gokhale, Chandabai, Lallu, Vasant Sawkar, Jairam Desai etc in it.

The movie had eight songs in it. One of these songs has been covered in the past.

Here is the second song from “Parinde”(1945) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Parul Ghosh, credited as Shrimati Ghosh in the credits. Rammurty Chaturvedi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Pt Govindram.

Video of this song is available and it is seen that the song is picturised on Vanmala as an “missing the beloved” genre of song.

I have not been able to get a few words right in the lyrics. I request our readers with keener ears to fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections as applicable in the lyrics.

baagon mein jhoole daal ki hum chholiya(?) gaa le
jangal mein mor phirte hain athkheliyaan karte
ek hum jo teri yaad mein jeete hain na marte

Atul ji,

The voice does not sound like that of Parul Ghosh.
Smt. Ghosh may be a different singer.

On a second listening and after comparing the voice with the song https://atulsongaday.me/2011/12/11/papeehe-re-mere-piyaa-se-kahiyo-jaaye/, it is Parul Ghosh.

It IS Parul Ghosh, (sister of Anil Biswas, Wife of Pannala Ghosh. Any more credentials required?)

Arun ji,
There is a male playback singer, Sheetal Ghosh who had sung in ‘Maala’ (1941). Is it one more example of ‘same name confusion’ – One male singer and the other female singer?

Sadanand ji,

HFGK had made correction in film Mala’s song, saying it is not shrimati Ghosh, but it is Sheetal Ghosh.
Based on this, wherever I found the name shrimati Ghosh, I made the corrections in my copy of HFGK, including this case.
Looks like the singer is parul Ghosh who, rightly has been named as shrimati Ghosh- though she was always mentioned as Parul ghosh.
Alternatively, as you suggest, there could be really another female singer called shrimati Ghosh. Here, may be, shrimati is not mentioned as a prefix but, in reality the singer’s name could be Shrimati itself.
