“Maan”(1954) was produced by Rajendra Jain and directed by Safdar Aah Sitapuri for Filmkaar Limited, Bombay. This cosume drama had Chitra, Ajit, Jageerdaar, Kumar, Achla Sachdev, Yashodhara Katju, Kamlesh Kumari, Chandabai, Durga Khote etc in it.
The movie had nine songs in it. Seven songs have been covered in the blog.
Here is the eighth song from “Maan”(1954) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Kalyani, Mubarak Begam and chorus. Safdar aah Sitapuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Anil Biswas.
HFGK mentions the mukhda of this song as “kya bataayen chhen kar tere deedaar pe”, but on listening to this song, the mukhda turns out to be “Kya bataayen pher kar munh”.
This is song sounds like an all female qawwaali. Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.
