“Naqaab”(1955) was produced and directed by Lekhraj Bhakri for Tasveeristaan. The movie had Shammi Kapoor, Madhubala, Asha Mathur, Ajit, Heera Lal, Yashodhara Katju, Maruti etc. in it.

Five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth song from the movie to appear in the blog. This melancholic “good bye, cruet world” genre of song is sung by Lata. Prem Dhawan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Pt Govindram.

Only the audio of this song is available. This song appears to be a song that is picturised on Madhubala. Nevertheless, I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

Song-Ham tere sitam ka kabhi shiqwa na karenge (Naqaab)(1955) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Prem Dhawan, MD-Pt Govindram

Lyrics

hum tere sitam ka kabhi shiqwa na karenge
hum tere sitam ka kabhi shiqwa na karenge
mar jaayenge par ishq ko ruswa na karenge
mar jaayenge par ishq ko ruswa na karenge

jitni wafa bhi nibh saki hum to nibha chale
jitni wafa bhi nibh saki hum to nibha chale
tum khush raho sada yahi kar ke dua chale
ab tujhse koi aur tamanna na karenge
mar jaayenge par ishq ko ruswa na karenge

hone ko hai hamaari aaj zindagi ki shaam
hone ko hai hamaari aaj zindagi ki shaam
ham to chale jahaan se lo aakhri salaam
lo aakhri salaam
hum badnaseeb ab tujhe dekha na karenge
mar jaayenge par ishq ko ruswa na karenge
hum tere sitam ka kabhi shiqwa na karenge
mar jaayenge par ishq ko ruswa na karenge

What a song !! What lyrics !! Thanks Atulbhai for bringing back my memories of the gone years. Excuse me for sharing my personal memory. I was newly married and I with my wife Bakul had gone to see this film. The expression on Madhubala was so realistic and tragic that I had to take sobbing Bakul out of the theater. We saw the film again when she promised not to sob loudly during the film next time,
