Today, 19 July 2024, is a special day for the blog. It was on this date 16 years ago that this blog had come into existence with its debut post “Miley Na Phool To Kaanton Se Dosti Kr Li” on 19 July 2008. We have come a long way in the blog from that small beginning. On this occasion, we will have quite a few posts today to celebrate the occasion. Keep watching this blog throughout the day.

#the Decade of Eighties – 1981 – 1990 #
————————————————————————

Today 19th July’2024 is the sixteenth birthday anniversary of this wonderful blog. And this is a big occasion for us ‘likeminded music lovers’. This also call for a big ‘celebration’ today. I would like to thank our team member Mahesh ji who posted a message in the ‘WhatsApp group’ giving an ‘alert’ to all members for this occasion. It is not that I do not remember it, but sometimes we need reminders (as it is usual with me nowadays to forget ‘things’ and remembering it a bit later 🙂 , hotaa hai , hotaa hai …

For this occasion I have selected a song from my side for the blog. All that I want to convey is mentioned in the lyrics of the song. It is a song sung by a female voice 🙂 but for this blog I am ready to dance on it (even if requires me to don a ‘saaree’ or ‘ghaagraa-choli’ 🙂 like the actress in this song ).

I came across this song recently while browsing through and listening to the songs composed by Rahul Dev Burman. It is a nice composition and this full album i.e. the songs from this movie ‘Ek Se Bhaley Do-1985’ are all nice entertaining songs with ‘fast-pace’ music by Pancham who used his various percussion instruments in them. The sound from these ‘non-traditional instruments’ is just wonderful to listen to.

A partial video of this song is available and watching it gives us a fair idea about the situation of this song in the movie. It is similar to ‘aa …. jab tak hai jaan – Sholay’ type situation where the villain Monty had held Kumar Gaurav and Amjad Khan as hostages. Along with Monty, his accomplice Gurbachan is also present. Shammi Kapoor in disguise is accompanying Rati Agnihotri in this song-dance performance and they are trying to divert attention of the villain and his team inorder to get Kumar Gaurav and Amjad Khan freed. I need to watch this movie to know what finally happens finally because Shammi Kapoor’s real face gets exposed to the villains as the song ends.

The movie ‘Ek Se Bhaley Do-1985’ was directed by S.V. Rajendra Singh for ‘Wardhaman Films, Bombay’. It was produced by K.D. Mehta. The cast of this movie includes Kumar Gaurav, Rati Agnihotri, Amjad Khan, Shammi Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore, Parikshit Sahni, Monty, Ranjeet, Manmohan Krishna, Gurbachan, Mayur, Karishma, Guddi, Birbal, Rinku, Praveen Kumar, Shivraj, Mushtaq Khan, Wali Khan, Master Chaitanya, Master Rinku, Master Sagar, Master Ravi and others. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 10.05.1985.

‘Ek Se Bhaley Do-1985’ has five songs written by Anjaan and composed by R.D. Burman. The songs in this movie have been sung by Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle, Anuradha Paudwal, Shailendra Singh, R.D. Burman, Lata Mangeshkar, and S.P. Balasubramaniam.

Today’s song is in the voice of Asha Bhonsle. With this song this movie ‘Ek Se Bhaley Do’ makes its debut on the blog. I hope readers will enjoy this song as much as I enjoyed it.

One line in this song is ‘aaye thhe, aaye hain, aate rahenge ae, laakhon sitamgar yahaan…’. So, when I say this that the lyrics of this song are my feelings for the blog, one would wonder who these ‘sitamgars’ are then? 🙂 One can read ‘professional commitments’, ‘work pressure’, ‘time constraints’, ‘family members (read ‘mainly wife’ instead 🙂 ), and sometimes ‘daughter/s’ (for me 🙂 ) which prevents us to devote more time (read ‘sitting on the ‘lap-top’ whole day 🙂 ) for writing articles. 🙂

But, yesterday 18th July’24 was a special day for me as I had taken ‘a break from work’ to concentrate on write-ups for Rajesh Khanna’s ‘Remembrance Day’. I took the opportunity to write a post for blog’s birthday (today) too. 🙂

Let us enjoy this wonderful song now. 🙂

Dear Avinash ji

I am very much taken in by your promise to dance on this song. I will bring the saaree and the ghaghra-choli, and we must record this performance. This will be the best celebration yet for this anniversary.

:D) :D) :D)
