Blog 10-Year Challenge (2013-2023) – Song No.138
————————————————————————————–

Hullo Atuldom

I was not planning on a BTYC post. It is just that I got a mail from our Prakshchandraji with songs from a movie that was posted on this date in 2013 i.e. 11/07/2103.

Out of curiosity, I looked up to see what song from this film has appeared on the blog & I found this post. That song/ post belonged to the Padmini Kolhapure- Kumar Gaurav starrer, 1984 released, “Hum Hain Laajawab”. The film was directed by Mohan Sehgal and produced by Jawaharlal Bafna, C.D. Mehta, Vasant Desai (I think it should be Vasant Doshi) & Mrs. B.N. Shah. Anand Bakshi was the lyricist & RD Burman the music director.

I don’t recall seeing this movie at the time of its theatrical release; but I may have seen some part of it on some satellite television channel over the years. On looking up for the synopsis on some internet sites this is what I found:

“Thakur (Kamal Kapoor) is a wealthy, principled, and punctual man, who will not tolerate anything, even music in his palatial home. Thakur’s only motto in life is money, and each and every second is spent on making and earning money. His elder son, Amar Kumar (a grown up Master Mayur) rebels against this, and is warned. But Amar does not heed this warning, and falls in love with a poor gypsy girl, Jyoti (Huma Khan), and both elope in order to escape the wrath of his dad. Thakur second son, Pawan Kumar (Kumar Gaurav), is sent away abroad so that there are no lingering bad influences on his life. Years later, Pawan returns home, and is the exact cold-hearted and arrogant image as his dad. Amar and his wife give birth to a son, and Amar writes to his dad to forgive him. Shortly thereafter the couple pass away, leaving their son, with Jyoti’s sister, Dilruba (Padmini Kolhgapure). Thakur decides to forgive his late son and asks Pawan to go and bring his grandson (Master Ravi) home. Pawan sets forth to get his nephew, with the help of MGM (Rakesh Bedi), and meets a host of less-than-fortunate people. His attitude does not get him anywhere with Dilruba and he is forced to assume another identity, that of Aashiq, to try and get his nephew home. He does succeed in pulling wool over Dilruba’s eyes and both eventually fall in love with each other – little knowing that his dad has already planned his marriage with wealthy Meenakshi (Kiran Vairale) and if he refuses he may suffer the same fate as Amar.”

On reading the above I got a feeling that I was reading the story of the Rishi Kapoor- Padmini Kolhapure starrer ‘Zamaane Ko Dikhaana Hai’ that released in 1981. The other parallel between the two films is that Padmini plays the guardian to Randhir Kapoor & Neelam Mehra’s son; played by Master Ravi who played the same role in ‘Hum Hain Laajawab’.

Further researching gave me the enlightenment that there are other movies with the same storyline viz: ‘Love In Tokyo’ (1966), ‘English Babu Desi Mem’ (1996)’. As I was typing out all this our Peevesie pointed out that there was an American romantic comedy ‘Life As We Know It’ (2010); that had nearly similar story.

Going back to where this post started from, about the BTYC, let us see the songs that were posted on this date in 2013.

8329 Hey parwat tumse paarvati pooch rahi karke binti Kailashpati (1962) On the occasion of Avinash Vyas’s birth anniversary. His birthday is shown as 21 july in other sites, though
8330 Pag pag thokar khaaye jawaani Hamaari Kismat (1949) Uma Devi (Tuntun) birthday. Today (11 July 2023) is her 100th birth anniversary
8331 Dukh sukh ki har ik maala Kudrat (1981) Multi version song (by Rafi and Chandrashekhar Gadgil)On the occasion of remembrance anniversary of Qateel Shifai. Today (11 July 2023) is his 22nd remembrance day.
8332 Koi pardesee aaya pardes mein Hum Hain Laajawaab (1984) On the occasion of birthday of Kumar Gaurav

From the above we can see that, on this date (11 July), 10 years ago, Atulji had posted 7 songs one of which was a multi-version song in the voices of Chandrashekar Gadgil & Mohd. Rafi, from ‘Kudrat’ (1981).

With this post we are wishing the (once) sweet looking, chocolate-boy, romantic actor Kumar Gaurav on his 67th birthday. He had a fabulous launch through “Love Story” (1981). The movie was a big success and he was expected to be the favourite actor for all teenage girls of that time, much like what Rajesh Khanna was in the early 1970s. But a few flop movies, which were either badly made or had indifferent plotlines, did not help his career. He expected that his career will revive when he had critically acclaimed performances in ‘Naam’ (1986) & ‘Janam’ (1985) – both of which were directed by Mahesh Bhatt. His last released Hindi film was the multi-starrer ‘Kaante’ (2002) where he shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan, Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh Manjrekar & Lucky Ali.

Today’s beach-side song has Kishore Kumar giving playback for Manoj Kumar Tuli (Kumar Gaurav’s birth name). I am not sure if it is Padmini Kolhapure herself who is mouthing the words in between the antaras. I found a youtube link which shows the vinyl of the film, where the female voice is credited as Meena. Now who is this ? 🤔

5457 Post No. : 17874

Hullo Atuldom

27th June – a favorite music director, singer and one-time actor would have turned 84. His name at birth was Rahul and his parents were Meera & Sachin Dev Burman. Yes, we are thinking of the music influencer who was active from the 1960s to the 1990s – Rahul Dev Burman who was also fondly addressed as Pancham.

He had music in his genes as his father was a well-loved composer and his mother was a Bengali singer and lyricist. It seems his first tunes were used in films as early as 1956/57. He was trained by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and Pt Samta Prasad. He also considered Salil Chowdhury as his guru. He was an assistant to his father in films like ‘Chalti Ka naam Gaadi’ (1958), ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’ (1959) and some more films before Mehmood signed him on for giving music to his home production ‘Chhote Nawab’ which released in 1961.

But why am I writing all these ? Which follower of Hindi Film music is not aware of Pancham Da’s background/ biography. We, the followers of HFM, also know that RD Burman has enriched close to 331 films with 1755 (approximately) songs. Of these, the blog has 811. That is we are halfway to having all songs composed by Pancham Da. We still have a huge library of songs to choose from for this post.

Today let us have a romantic song from the 1981 film ‘Love Story’. The film is produced  by Rajendra Kumar and jointly directed by him and Rahul Rawail. This was the launch vehicle for star-son Kumar Gaurav, with Vijayta Pandit as his co-star. Danny and Vidya Sinha played the girl’s parents while Rajendra Kumar played the boy’s father (Bina played the mother who dies during child birth). Amjad Khan, Aruna Irani, Gufi Paintal (he passed away recently, may his soul rest in peace) etc. formed the supporting cast. Anand Bakshi and RD Burman gave us some hummable songs which are popular to this day.

The post on the song “Dekho Maine Dekha Hai Ye Ik Sapna” by Nahmji gives more details of the movie, and it makes a good read.

Let us enjoy the song which falls under the ‘sulking-appeasing’ category. It has Lata Mangeshkar and Amit Kumar giving playback for the young couple.

The blog completes 14 years of its existence today (19 july 2008-19 july 2022).

Blog Day :

5114 Post No. : 17060

Today 19th of July 2022 we celebrate the birthday of this blog. Regulars on the blog are aware that this blog was started on 19th of July 2008. So, today the blog celebrates its’ fifteenth birthday.

Normally on this occasion we enjoy birthday songs, ‘saalgirah’ songs, ‘party’ songs, or sometimes ‘bringing memories back’ songs or songs that are filled with ‘nostalgia’ as I have shared them earlier on the birthday of the blog.

But, today, I am approaching this post differently and I will not repeat what I have earlier said about the blog and my love for this blog and how this blog has become a part of my life since I become associated with it.

So today, instead of playing a song for the blog we will enjoy a song ‘as the blog is singing for us’ 😊

Yes, the blog in its teens now have already achieved a unique position on online platforms and in the coming days its’ achievements are only going to be increase by leaps and bounds and further …

So, the blog is happy about its growth and feels like singing today for all of us, and when this blog sings the whole universe sings 😊obviously …

Just imagine that the ‘shokh kaliyaan’ are the newer posts appearing on the blog daily and songs which are rare, unheard, never known or even known songs but accompanied with information, details, trivia, nostalgia and much more … And when the new posts arrived the ‘heart’ of the readers automatically starts throbbing. The readers are the ‘mast’ ‘flowers’, and when their heart starts throbbing the whole atmosphere becomes jovial and enjoying ..

‘jhoomkar partbaton pe ghataa chhaa rahi hai’ … these are the special occasions like anniversaries of artistes, centuries of the artistes or blog members when we expect the blog to ‘rain’ the ‘posts’ especially from our seniors like Arun ji, Sudhir ji, Atul ji, Sadanand ji, Raha Saab, Shenoy Sir ji, Nahm ji, Nalini ji, Gajendra ji and others. And posts coming under ‘blog ten-year challenge’ with contributions raining from Prakashchandra ji.

By the way Arun ji’s posts coming on the blog itself makes the day a ‘special occasion’ as and when the posts come.

All the posts appearing carry forward the story of ‘love and passion’ for ‘music’ and for the ‘blog’. Every day the blog feels ‘pyaar ki umr shaayad kareeb aa rahi hai’ unaware of how much we all love it …The blog happily continues with its ‘pyaar ki daastaan’ every day.

‘bhool kar raah koyi haseen aa na jaaye’ … These are the new readers coming into the contact of this blog and falling in love with this blog. Even the ‘pardaa nasheen’ have to take care or they will fall in love with this blog.

From its side the blog already alerts you ‘is jagah aaj ek naujawaan’ gaa rahaa hai … (its ‘age’ doesn’t matter 😊 it’s an adolescent growing into youth😊)

‘ye zameen gaa rahi hai
aasmaan gaa rahaa hai
saath mere
ye saara jahaan gaa rahaa hai’

Happy birthday ‘atulsongaday’…!!!

Enjoy today’s melodious composition by Pancham Da with the beautiful verses of Anand Bakshi and rendered lovingly by Amit Kumar.

Today’s song is from the ‘1982’ movie ‘Teri Kasam’.

In the movie Kumar Gaurav lip-syncs the song. Poonam Dhillon and others can also be seen in the picturization of this song …

shokh kaliyon ke ghoonghat

ye zameen gaa rahi hai
aasmaan gaa rahaa hai

bhool kar raah koyi haseen
aa na jaaye
bhool kar raah koyi haseen
aa na jaaye
is jagah koyi pardaa-nasheen
aa na jaaye
is jagah aaj ek naujawaan
gaa rahaa hai
saath mere ye saara jahaan
gaa rahaa hai
ye zameen gaa rahi hai
aasmaan gaa rahaa hai
saath mere
ye saara jahaan gaa rahaa hai

laa laa laa laal
la la laa
la la laa laa laa laa aa

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2012-2022) – Song No. 60
————————————————————————————–

Welcome all to this post under ‘blog ten year challenge 2012-2022’.

Ten years back on this day i.e. 03rd July’2012, as many as seven songs from seven different movies were covered on the blog.

The details of these songs are as given below:-

Song Title Name of the movie (Year) Remarks
Aise machal ke nain badal ke Do Gunde(1959) Movie Yippeeee’ed by now
Phoolon se dosti hai Duniya Jhukti Hai(1960) 2 of 8 songs posted
Chadhe chanda to tum bhi chale aana Aplam Chaplam(1961) 3 of 7 songs posted
Dhaley din aise Laal Kothi(1978) 1 of 4 songs posted
Kaa jaanoon main sajaniyaa Hum Paanch(1980) 3 of 6 songs posted
Jaan e jaan dhoondhta phir rahaa Jawaani Deewaani(1972) Movie Yippeeee’ed by now
Dil ki baat kahin lab pe na aa jaaye Teri Qasam(1982) 1 of 6 songs posted

From the above table we can see that only two movies out of seven movies represented on the blog on that day have since been ‘Yippeeee’ed on the blog.

This means that five movies are eligible for blog ten year challenge today (3 July 2022).

I am presenting a song from the ‘1982’ movie ‘Teri Qasam’.

Today 3rd July’2022 is also the seventieth birthday of Singer Amit Kumar (born on 3rd July’1952). On this occasion I am presenting a song from ‘Teri Qasam’ which is sung by Amit Kumar.

‘Teri Qasam-1982’ was directed by A.C. Trilokchander for ‘Navjeevan Productions, Bombay’. It was produced by Titu.

It had Kumar Gaurav, Poonam Dhillon, Girish Karnad, Ranjeeta, Nirupa Roy, Monty, Paintal, Jyoti Bakshi, Neelu Arora, Najma, Rakesh Bedi, Mushtaq Merchant, Kanti, Manmouji, Birbal, S.P. Chaturvedi, Dinkar Chaudhary, Meghdoot, Bhola, Shivraj, Babli, Gauri Verma, Raj Bachchan and others.

This movie introduced Shiv Kapoor.

Padmini Kapila, Mukul Agrawal made special appearances in this movie while music director Laxmikant had a guest appearance in this movie.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 25.05.1982.

This movie had six songs thatwere written by Anand Bakshi R.D. Burman was the music director.

Here is the list of songs of “Teri Kasam”(1982):-.

Sr.No. Song Title Singer/s
01 Ham jis raste pe chale us raste pe thhi preet khadi Lata Mangeshkar, Amit Kumar
02 Ye zameen gaa rahi hai aasmaan gaa rahaa hai Amit Kumar
03 Gee two hai haan jee haan, gee two hai Amit Kumar
04 Kya huaa ek baat par barson ka yaraana gaya Amit Kumar
05 Mere geeton mein meri kahaaniyaan hai Amit Kumar
06 Dil ki baat kahin lab pe na aa jaaye Amit Kumar

Only one song from this movie has been posted on the blog and that was ten years ago on 03.07.2012. It means that this movie has completed its ten years run on the blog with only one of its songs posted.

While presenting the first song from this movie on the blog, Atul ji has given his opinion why Kumar Gaurav turned to be a failure after his debutant ‘big-hit’ movie ‘Love Story’.
Though Atul ji has mentioned that the music of this movie was composed by R.D. Burman but ‘he did not enjoy the songs of this movie’ may be because he didn’t like this movie.
But I would like to mention here that I liked all the songs of this movie very much. I had watched this movie, and I have no recollections whether I had liked at that time. But Pancham Da has given a very nice musical score ino this movie. All the songs from this movie are very good. However, only one song from this movie made it to the annual list of ‘Binaca Geetmala’ of that year 1982. This song ‘ye zameen gaa rahi hai’ stood at 22nd position.

We will be enjoying the others songs from this movie in the future.

Today we are going to listen to the second song from this movie.

This song sung by Amit Kumar is a nice song from this movie which is lip synced by Kumar Gaurav. From the picturisation of this song the song seems to be a stage show song wherein we can also see Poonam Dhillon and many other artists seated among the audience.

Let us now listen to today’s song which seems to happen after the two lovers (Kumar Gaurav and Poonam Dhillon) get estranged over some misunderstanding 🙂

Wishing Amit Kumar a very happy birthday today and a healthy and peaceful life ahead …

Hullo Atuldom

This post by Avinashji reminded me of today’s song.

“Naam” (1986) had a cast headed by Nutan, Poonam Dhillon, Amrita Singh, Kumar Gaurav and Sanjay Dutt along with a few familiar faces forming the supporting cast. Pankaj Udhas had a guest appearance in the iconic song “Chitthi aayi hai aayi hai chitthi aayi hai“.

Avinashji’s post gives the technical details, censor certificate date, and the complete star cast. All the trivia that I had in mind before commencing this post viz: how the cast of “Mother India” became related post the marriage of Kumar Gaurav (Rajendra Kumar’s son) to Namrata Dutt (daughter of Nargis and Sunil Dutt). Atulji’s post for Chitthi aayi hai aayi hai chitthi aayi hai also mentions how the movie was meant to help Kumar Gaurav’s career but Sanjay Dutt benefited from the movie.

The basic story of the movie was- Nutan is the mother of Ravi (Kumar Gaurav) and Vicky (Sanjay Dutt). Both the sons love each other immensely and but are contrasting characters. Ravi is the more responsible and straight-forward of the two and is forever helping Vicky out of tricky situations. Vicky decides to go to Dubai to earn enough to keep his brother and mother happy and bring the family out of financial problems. Ravi helps him with the documents needed to go to Dubai but unfortunately Vicky finds himself in all kinds of problems on landing in Dubai- fraud visa, entangling with a ruthless underworld led by Rana (Paresh Rawal) etc. The story shifts to Malaysia, as Vicky is sent on an errand by Rana and Ravi ends up following Vicky there to try and bail him out of the mess. But only ends up loosing his beloved brother and bringing back his pregnant widow (Amrita Singh) to India.

Today’s emotional song is sung by Mohammad Aziz and Manhar Udhas. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist and Laxmi-Pyare the music directors. This song may not have been popular in its time but deserved to be. THe song has both the brothers getting drunk at the farewell that Ravi has arranged for Vicky.

Let us wish Sanju Baba a very Happy Birthday and lots of health and happiness with this post. I recall having read a news, same time last year, that he was undergoing treatment for lung cancer. Hope he is fit and fine and will be back to what he does best- entertain his fans.

Birth Anniversary of R. D. Burman on 27/06/2021.
———————————————————–

Today morning I was thinking how there are a few songs from the films like ‘Betaab’ ‘Rocky’ etc that are not posted. With the same thought came the reminder of movies like ‘Love story’, in which Kumar Gaurav, the son of Jubilee star Rajendra Kumar, and Vijeta Pandit, the sister of Sulakshna Pandit, made their debut. There was a spate of star sons joining the movies at that time. Even Dev Anand launched his son, Manoj Kumar launched his brother. From what I read in magazines, these star sons had to learn film acting at Tanuja Chandra’s acting institute, where they were taught all type of things which included horse riding and fighting etc. They were also taught to speak Urdu, which was not part of their education otherwise.

Except for Manoj Kumar’s films, all such films had R D Burman’s music as he was believed to be the success formula of such films.

The senior stars would give interviews to “Shama’a”’s editor who went by the pen name ‘Musaafir’ about their son’s debut movie and their coaching in various skill required to be a successful hero. I am positive about having read these things about Rajendra Kumar, Sunil Dutt, Dev Anand and Dharmendra. Most of these star sons worked in some films for a few years, then they disappeared from films. Only Sanjay Dutt and Sunny Deol were more successful and they are still around.

The film “Love Story” ‘s starcast is Kumar Gaurav, Vijayta, Rajendra Kumar, Vidya Sinha, Danny Denzongpa, Amjad Khan, Jagdish Raj, T.P. Jain, Kamaldeep, Azad, Jezebel, Gufi Paintal, Farooque Shorty, Subhash, Amarjeet Sunder, Hangama, Shakeel, Laxman Thumre, Aruna Irani, Prem Kalra, Dev Kumar, Ram Mohan, Bharat Kapoor, Ram Sethi, Bina. The film is jointly directed by Rahul Rawail and Rajendra Kumar, with Rajendra Kumar producing the film. The music is by R. D. Burman and lyricist is the evergreen Anand Bakshi.

I have seen two duets from this movie now, of which only one song is posted. I have read this post, which talks of the twin solos of this film “Yaad aa rahi hai”, which was my personal favourite from this film. This song should also be posted soon.

But I am choosing one of the duets which I saw just now. Both have outdoor shooting and are expressive of various emotions and 5 minutes plus long. There was a short series of a sort I had planned for outdoorsy songs, which I seem to have waylaid. Links of many such songs are saved in my laptop.

In the film ‘Love story’, which I have seen in Minerva theatre when it was released, there is some triangle love story of Vidya Sinha, Rajendra Kumar and Danny Danzongpa. Vidya Sinha and Rajendra Kumar were to marry, but she ends up married to Danny, and Vijeta is their daughter. Rajendra Kumar marries someone else (Beena?) who is now dead, and Kumar Gaurav is the son. So, there is some animosity among the set of parents also, apart from villain.

Now between my husband and me, we have recalled the whole set of characters and their roles in the story. Vijetaa is a much pampered and cossetted daughter as Danny is very much possessive of her. Kumar Gaurav’s father is a little strict, but he knows how to spin stories around and not get a scolding. Kumar Gaurav sets his wrist watch an hour behind to hoodwink his father Rajendra Kumar upon being late for an event. Amjad Khan is the comic relief as the Hawaldar who arrests the two love birds, who have eloped in the 70’s fashion. This fashion or trend of eloping was truly started with ‘Bobby’. Now what Amjad Khan does is takes one “hathkadi” and ties them both together on one end each of hathkadi. This makes it easy for them to elope again, after being arrested. Dev Kumar is a friend or henchman of Danny Danzongpa, who is interested in getting Vijeta married to his son. So, he has more motive in separating the couple, to the extant even wanting to kill Kumar Gaurav. But all is well in the end, and it is a happy ending.

In the climax fight sequences, Kumar Gaurav saves the life of Danny and the latter is then convinced that Kumar Gaurav is the better bet for his daughter.

Lata Mangeshkar and Amit kumar are singing for Vijeta and Kumar Gaurav. The songs of this film were very popular back then. Lyrics are a breeze, as I remember them all, but have to do more work on the words interspersed and the singers voices. I am presenting this well written, composed and shot happy song in outdoor locales of maybe Manali or someplace near the himalaya’s which can be seen in the background, to commemorate the memory of Rahul Dev Burman on his birth anniversary.

Today’s song is from the movie ‘Naam-1986’.

‘Naam-1986’ may be a recent movie by the standard of this blog, but it made it’s debut on the blog long time back or precisely in the initial months of the blog and that was on 03.11.2008.

Its’ most popular song Chitthi aayi hai aayi hai chitthi aayi hai was posted on the blog on 03.11.2008.

‘Naam-1986’ was directed by Mahesh Bhatt for ‘Aryan Films’.

It was produced by Kumar Gaurav and presented by Rajendra Kumar. It had Nutan, Kumar Gaurav, Sanjay Dutt, Poonam Dhillon, Amrita Singh, Pankaj Udhas with Paresh Rawal, Aakash Khurana, Ram Mohan etc in it.

Story, screenplay, and dialogues of this movie were written by Salim Khan. Editing of this movie was done by David Dhawan.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 30.08.1986.

This movie had six songs (including one multiple version song) written by Anand Bakshi and music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Lata Mangeshkar, Pankaj Udhas, Manhar Udhas, Mohammed Aziz and Kavita Krishnamurthy had given their voices to the songs of this movie.

Today we are going to listen the second song from this movie sung by Mohammed Aziz and lip-synced on screen by Kumar Gaurav.

I had watched this movie during my stay at Parli Vaijnath then in 1986. Though I do not remember much about this movie now. The today’s song seems to be a party song where paintings of ‘people suffering in poverty and hunger’ are seen to be displayed.

We can see Poonam Dhillon and others present their while Kumar Gaurav performs on this song.

I think all the songs from this movie are good songs to listen and they were all quite popular too, ‘chitthi aayi hai’ being the most popular among them.

Let us now listen to today’s song, the second song of this movie on the blog, appearing after a gap of twelve years, five months, and fifteen days (or 4550 days including 17.04.2021) since its first song on the blog.

Song-Waqt ke saath har zakhm bharta nahin(Begaana)(1986) Singers-Md Aziz, Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Anjaan, MD-Anu Malik

Lyrics

chal rahaa hoon
dil mein mere phir
chalne ki khushi hai
aanewaale kal ki soorat meri
aankhon mein basi hai
mar chuke hain wo jo thhak kar
raaste mein baithh jaayen
waqt se ladtaa rahaa main
waqt ka maaraa nahin hoon

waqt ke saath har
zakhm bhartaa nahin
waqt ke saath har
zakhm bhartaa nahin
phir bhi jeete hain sab
koyi martaa nahin
phir bhi jeete hain sab
koyi martaa nahin
waqt ka zakhm sah jaayen
aise hain kam
waqt ka zakhm sah jaayen
aise hain kam
waqt warnaa guzaare guzartaa nahin

phir bhi jeete hain
koyi martaa nahin

waqt hotaa hai kyaa
ye usey hai pataa
waqt ki aag mein jo jalaa hai
waqt ka doosra naam taqdeer hai
zor qismat pe kiska chalaa hai
waqt ki thhokaren choor kar dein jise
wo bikhar ke sambhaltaa nahin ee ee
waqt ka zakhm sah jaayen
aise hain kam
waqt warnaa guzaare guzartaa nahin

phir bhi jeete hain sab
koyi martaa nahin

dhoop ban ke kabhi
chhaaon ban ke kabhi
waqt chehre badaltaa rahegaa
waqt ki thhokaren khaa ke bhi aadmi
yoon hi girtaa sambhaltaa rahegaa
wo hai kyaa aadmi
apni himmat se jo
waqt ka rukh badaltaa nahin ee ee
waqt ke saath har
zakhm bhartaa nahin
phir bhi jeete hain sab
koyi martaa nahin
phir bhi jeete hain sab
koyi martaa nahin

waqt ki dhundh se
ham jo guzren kabhi
raah soojhe naa koyi kahin
ho o o

aati jaati rahi
waqt ki aandhiyaan
chaand sooraj bujhe to nahin ee ee
chaand sooraj bujhe to nahin

waqt hai be-raham
kar le kuchh bhi sitam
waqt hai be-raham

Today 4th January’2021 is the twenty-seventh Remembrance Anniversary of ‘Pancham Da- The genius’ or Rahul Dev Burman ‘the prince of music’.

He was born on 27th June’1939 and he passed away on 4th January’1994 at the age of fifty-four only.

On his Remembrance Day today as a tribute to him I am presenting a song sung by him from the 1983 movie ‘Romance’. For today’s occasion I was looking for a sad song and that also from a ‘debutant movie’. This song is a nice composition and picturized on Kumar Gaurav who is seen roaming in the fields, riverside, hilly areas and some picturesque locations (I don’t know which are these places).

The song though hummable will be liked by those only (I think so) who have not found ‘any purpose of life’ or ‘is missing someone or something in his life’😊 and that is why being annoyed with life the song goes ‘ye zindagi kuchh bhi sahi, par ye mere kis kaam ki’.

Otherwise, it is a nice song to listen and sung well by R.D. Burman with his special musical touch and style.

‘Romance-1983’ was directed by Ramanand Sagar for his home productions ‘Sagar Art Enterprises, Bombay’. Ramanand Sagar was also the producer of this movie. It had Shammi Kapoor, Kumar Gaurav, Poonam Dhillon, with Saeed Jaffrey, Helena Luke, Sushma Seth, Prema Narayan, and Tom Alter. They were supported by Viju Khote, Jugnu, Manmauji, Samrat Kapoor, Dr. Madan Kataria, Randhawa, Jawahar Bhan, Chandan, Yogee, Jitu Vyas, Moolchand.

This movie introduced Christopher, Lilli Put, Jillian. Raj Babbar, Ranjeeta and Ram Sethi make friendly appearance in this movie.

Story, Screenplay and dialogues for this movie were written by Mirza Brothers. Editing of this movie was done by Subhash Sehgal.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 12.10.1983.

This movie had five songs written by Anand Bakshi and composed by R.D. Burman. Lata Mangeshkar, Amit Kumar, Mahendra Kapoor and R.D. Burman were the playback singers for this movie.

Today’s song is sung by R.D. Burman and lyrics are by Anand Bakshi. Music is by R.D. Burman himself as mentioned above.

let us now enjoy today’s song …

milan kab hoga hamaaraa
tu mauj main hoon kinaaraa
milan kab hogaa hamaaraa
ho o o milan kab hoga hamaaraa

jaise kisi ee mandir mein log
rakh dein kisi ki moorat ko
jaise kisi mandir mein log
rakh dein kisi ki moorat ko o o
dil mein basaa aa rakkhaa hai yoon
maine sajan ki soorat ko
teri poojaa mein pal pal guzaaraa
milan kab hogaa hamaara
tu mauj main hoon kinaaraa
milan kab hogaa hamaaraa aa
ho pyaasi hai jeewan ki dhaaraa
milan kab hogaa hamaaraa
ho ho o milan kab hogaa hamaaraa
