(4th August’2024- Kishore Kumar’s 95th birth anniversary )
“Mujhe Vachan Do-1983” was directed by Shibu Mitra for ‘Royal Films, Bombay’. It was produced by Mahendra Sandhu. It has Mahendra Sandhu, Danny Denzongpa, Vijayendra Ghatge, Ranjeet, Neeta Mehta, Deepika, Master Ravi, Viju Khote, Rajan Haksar, Kamaldeep, Kirti Kumar, Uttam Sodhi, Ashok Narayan, Manohar, Randhawa, Sudhir, Jayshree T., Darshan, A Mishra, Devendra Marshall, Mahendra, Mirza, Tilak Raj and others. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 30.05.1983.
“Mujhe Vachan Do” has six songs including one multiple version song. Lyrics for all the songs of this movie were written by Ravinder Rawal and music was composed by Raamlaxman. The singers who had given their voices to the songs in this movie included Lata Mangeshkar, Vinod Sehgal, Asha Bhonsle, and Kishore Kumar.
Today on the occasion of Kishore Kumar’s 95th birth anniversary I am presenting a song from this movie sung by him. On screen it is Mahendra Sandhu lip-syncing this song. In the earlier posts today I have mentioned about Kishore Kumar’s singing of fun songs. This song falls under that category of fun songs.
In the year ‘1987’ HMV had brought a compilation of ‘fun songs’ of Kishore Kumar on a cassette. I am often reminded of it whenever I am listening to such songs sung by Kishore Kumar. I would like to list here the songs in this compilation. (The songs already available on this blog are highlighted with the links). This cassette was added to my collection on 28.08.1987.

Going through the above list one can easily point out that ‘this list is a very short list’. There are many songs sung by Kishore Kumar in the later years as well (like the song being discussed). There are many songs (like some of the songs covered today ) from the years of 1948 to 1970 which could easily fit in the above list. I am not aware if HMV had brought a Vol-II as a follow up to this compilation.
That brings us to the song under discussion viz this song from the movie ‘Mujhe Vachan Do-1983’. I have yet to watch this movie. It is available on line, but the print seems to be poor.
The first time I came across this song was in 2015. By coincidence, I was on a visit to Khandwa from Nagpur at that time. This was around end August-2015 or early September’2015. I was on my official visit to the site near Khandwa and I was staying at a Hotel there. I was looking for some songs to go with my post for the coming ‘janmashtami’ festival. I located a song that by coincidence turned out to be a Kishore Kumar song from the movie ‘Naya Din Nayee Raat-1974’.
Nearly nine years have passed from those days. I have been longing to see this song in the blog from that time when i stumbled upon this song.

Our tributes to the ‘versatile genius’ Kishore Kumar and thanking him for all the joy that he has brought to us.
With this qawwaali kind of song, which is also a counting of numbers from pehli to dasvin, the movie “Mujhe Vachan Do”(1983) makes its debut in the blog.
