——————————————-—————————
This movie turned fifty years old in March this year. This movie titled ‘Phandaa-1975’ was passed by the Censor Board on 01.03.1975.
“Phandaa-1975” was directed by Somesh Joshi and V. Mhatre for Suraj Films. Its star cast included Rakesh Pandey, Nazneen, Madhu Malini, Iftekhar, Raza Murad, Suresh, Abhi Bhattacharya, Leela Mishra, Tun Tun, Mushtaq Merchant, Romeo, Rajrani, Vishva Mehra, Madhumati, Seema Kapoor, Sujata, Poonam, Uma Dutt, Devender and others. Sujit Kumar, Rohin Kamal and Bindu had special appearances in this movie.
I had earlier presented two songs from this movie on this blog.
I got to watch this movie in our colony club during 1975-1976. Movies like this that had flopped at the box office were easily accessible to the club committee, presumably at throw away prices. It was during that period that I also got to watch many older black and white movies. As a child I was unable to appreciate the value of those movies whose prints were then readily accessible. With time some of these movies have been lost. In some cases, even the songs are no longer available.
In the case of this movie, when I shared the Rafi song it was the only song available. Luckily now all the songs from this movie have become available on internet. However, all of them are in audio format only. I could not find any video related to this movie. I vaguely remember that his movie was a ‘C’ or ‘D’ grade movie of its time having plot of ‘rape, crime and punishment etc’.
“Phandaa-1975” has four songs. They were written by Shaakir Kotwi (three songs) and Indeevar (one song). The music for this movie was composed by N. Datta. The singers for this movie are Mohd Rafi, Asha Bhonsle and Usha Mangeshkar.
This movie made its debut on the blog with this song ‘tujhe jaan e wafaa keh doon’ sung by Rafi Saab. This song was presented by me on 25.12.2014. Lyricist for this song is Shaakir Kotwi. The second song from this movie was posted on 21.02.2023. The singer for this second song ‘zindagee kee pehlee zaroorat hai kyaa’ is Asha Bhonsle and lyrics are written by Indeevar.
Today I am presenting the third song from this movie which is a female duet song sung by Asha Bhonsle and Usha Mangeshkar. Lyrics are by Shaakir Kotwi. The music for this movie is composed by N. Dutta.
This song is a racy song, and I guess that this might also be a club-dance song performance.
I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie and its story, songs etc. Let us now enjoy the today’s song …
Today happens to be the birthday of our beloved editor and the founder of this blog Shree Atul jee. I would like to wish him a very happy birthday today and many more happy returns of the day with a peaceful-musical life ahead!!!
