#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #
————————————————————————
(Yippeeee to ‘Bhool Na Jaanaa (Unreleased)-1970)
———————————————————
Today’s song is from an unreleased movie ‘Bhool Na Jaanaa-1970’. Music for this movie was composed by Daan Singh. In Geet Kosh the banner of this movie is mentioned as Integrity International. There is no information about the director of this movie or its cast. But luckily there is detailed information about its songs which is that this movie has seven songs. Geet Kosh leaves a space with dots assuming that there would have been more songs for this movie but which are not known and neither available I guess. This movie had made its debut on this blog on 24.09.2010 where in our editor Atul jee had posted the first song from this movie. Thereafter five more songs from this movie have been covered on this blog taking the tally of the songs of this movie to six. All the five posts after the debut post were presented by our Sudhir jee covering rare information about this movie and information about the composer -who remained an unsung hero in the history of Hindi Cinema.
The text of all the earlier posts is important to understand the details about this movie, availability of its songs and about the composer, so I am including here the text from both Atul jee’s post where he presented the first song, and later from Sudhir jee’s post giving details about the composer Daan Singh and background information about this movie.
(Atul jee’s post)
Most songs posted in this blog are from movies that got released at some date. But there are cases where the makers of the movie were so broke that the movie never got released.
As a result, a few careers failed to take off. And importantly for music lovers, quite a few songs were lost to the listeners.
Fortunately, in some cases, a few songs of unreleased movies managed to find their way into the public domain.
As we can see, the lyricist Hariram Acharya is one whose career failed to get launched because of the shelving of this movie. The music director Daan Singh too had a brief career.
(Sudhir jee’s post)
Daan Singh, a name that may not ring many bells or evoke many memories. But the mention of memorable songs such as ‘Mere Hamnasheen Mere Hamnawaan’ (Geeta Dutt, Bhool Na Jaanaa, c1965, unreleased), ‘Zikr Hota Hai Jab Qayaamat Kaa’ and ‘Who Tere Pyaar Ka Gham, Ik Bahaanaa Thhaa Sanam’ (both Mukesh, My Love, 1970), or ‘Laagaa Mohey Pehli Baar, Pandrah Pe Ek Nayaa Saal’ (Asha Bhonsle, Toofaan, 1969), is sure to vibrate some strings inside and the mind is sure to respond with a ‘wow’.
This little known genius of musical prowess, and a formal student of Khemchand Prakash, passed away on 18th June, earlier this year (2012), in Jaipur. He was 83 years old. A film career that was checkered and short, he utilized most of his time, energies and talent at the All India Radio, Jaipur, where he was the station music director for long years.
Born in 1927, he visited Bombay as a teenager in mid 40s, traveling with another friend YN Joshi (screenplay writer for Vidya (1948)). While in Bombay, Joshi ji introduced him to Khemchand Prakash. Recognizing the talent in the young man, who could reproduce any tune, any rhythm note for note, Khemchand ji took him under his guidance and formally accepted him as a shishya (student). Besides learning from his Guru, he also assisted him with music arrangements for films that Khemchand ji worked on. He returned to Jaipur in late 40s, and started working there at the AIR station as a musician and composer. It is said that when the famous poet Sumitranandan Pant ji came to know that a young and new musician will be composing music for his poems to be broadcast on AIR, he was sceptical and expressed reservations. But when he heard the compositions for his poems, he specially went to the AIR station to compliment Daan Singh, and to give him a hug and his blessings.
In 1963, Jagan Prasad Sharma, originally from Jaipur, and then a producer in Bombay, planned to produce a film on the 1962 war with China. The film was titled Bhool Na Jaanaa. Daan Singh was approached for composing the music for this film. He left his job with AIR and came to Bombay. The work started on the songs. The lyrics were written by Hari Ram Acharya, Indeevar and Gulzar. Seven songs were composed and recorded. And then the film got shelved, because of some government restrictions on using the war with China as a subject. It is fortunate that the music of the film could be released, and is available for the music lovers. All seven songs of this unreleased film went on to become favourites with music lovers.
As mentioned above today’s movie ‘Bhool Na Jaanaa-1970’ has seven songs and six songs from this movie have already been posted on the blog. Here is the details of the six songs.

Lyrics
choohe daudo billee aayee
billee kyaa ek aafat aayee
bhaago bhaago mere bhaaee
pyaare zaraa bach ke
ararararararara bach ke
tililililililili bach ke
ayiayiayiayi back ke
choohe daudo billee aayee
billee kyaa ek aafat aayee
bhaago bhaago mere bhaaee
pyaare zaraa bach ke
bagulaa baithhaa ek taang par
man mein dhyaan lagaaye
chat se nigloon agar pakad mein
koyee machhlee aaye
machhlee raanee jee
hmm hmm
machhlee raanee
machhlee raanee
tere taal mein kitnaa paanee
bhaago tum ko jaan bachaanee
munnu zaraa back ke
ararararararara bach ke
tililililililili bach ke
ayiayiayiayi back ke
choohe daudo billee aayee
billee kyaa ek aafat aayee
bhaago bhaago mere bhaaee
pyaare zaraa bach ke
ban baithhaa jungle kaa raajaa
rangaa ek geedad bhaaee
lekin kalai khulee ek din
tab uskee samajh aayee ee
dhhol mein nikley pol
phir to usko
khoob sataaya
doodhh chhathhee kaa yaad dilaayaa
aankhon mein paanee bhar aayaa
lallu zaraa bach ke
ararararararara bach ke
tililililililili bach ke
ayiayiayiayi back ke
choohe daudo billee aayee
billee kyaa ek aafat aayee
bhaago bhaago mere bhaaee
pyaare zaraa bach ke
