# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Happy Birthday to Shailendra Singh)#
——————————————-——————————

Today 4th October’2025 is the 74th birthday of Singer and actor Shailendra Singh. He was born on 4th October’1952 in Mumbai (Bombay then). Most of us are aware that Shailendra Singh made his debut as a singer with the movie ‘Bobby’ in ‘1973’ which was produced and directed by the great showman of Hindi Cinema Raj Kapoor.

The songs of ‘Bobby’ became very popular then and Shailendra Singh was nominated for the ‘Best Male Playback Singer’ for the song ‘main shaayar to nahin’. But the he didn’t win for that. He got his first acting break for the movie ‘Do Jaasoos – 1975’. (Later on, he acted in his father’s home production ‘Agreement-1980’, and he had done guest appearance in ‘Naukar-1979’ and Mehmood’s – ‘Janta Hawaldar-1979’. He acted in a Bengali film as a hero with Aparna Sen and the movie was ‘Ajosro Dhanyobaad (Many Many Thanks).

I was born in 1968 and when I was growing the voice of Shailendra Singh was around singing songs in Hindi movies. I vaguely remember that the songs of the movie ‘Bobby-1973’ were frequently heard in those years. However, they were not to my likings. And another reason for that was I had never watched this movie then and even later also. I think I might have watched some parts of this movie on TV. However I remember watching ‘Do Jaasoos’ with my Uncle and its songs are there in my memory since then.

Particularly its’ song ‘purvaiyya lace chali meri naiyya’ sung by Shailendra Singh and Lata Mangeshkar is the one which whenever I listen I get transported to that timeline and gives me entirely different nostalgic feeling again. Another movie was ‘Rafoo Chakkar’ which I might have watched with my parents or elders in the family and its’ song ‘tumko o mere dil ne’ is another song which is my favorite and I have nostalgia attached with it and it brings back memories.

Then there were songs like ‘pyaar mein kabhi kabhi aisa ho kata hai’, ‘gunche lage hain kahne’, ‘meree dilruba tujhko aana padega’, ‘mere bas mein agar kuchh hotaa’, ‘hamne tumko dekha, tumne ham ko dekha aise’, ‘hoga tumse pyaara kaun’ (in earlier eighties).

There are many of his songs which I like or which had been popular, however I have mentioned above only those songs which give me ‘nostalgic’ feeling most and thought the songs I mentioned above might not be great songs they are connected to my childhood years when I was still growing or was in my teens. And that is the reason I love them and the voice of Shailendra Singh very much. We have a still a long way to go to bring the many of the songs sung by Shailendra Singh here on this blog. He has sung a good number of songs in the eighties to the nineties too. And we will be bringing them here as and when possible 

In this post I am presenting another lesser heard song sung by Shailendra Singh from the movie ‘Saanch Ko Aanch Nahin-1979’.

“Saanch Ko Aanch Nahin-1979’ was directed by Satyen Bose for ‘Ruchi Films, Bombay’.
It was produced by Tarachand Barjatya. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 08.03.1979. It had Arun Govil, Madhu Kapoor, Urmila Bhatt, Arvind Deshpande, Baby Komal, Om Shivpuri, Gajanan Jagirdar, Amar Shan, Ram Mohan, Mushtaq Merchant, Javed Khan, Birbal, Surendra Kumar, Master Sandeep, C.S. Dubey, Datta Bhatt, Rajan Kapoor, Arjun Bakshi, Brajendra Mohan, Narbada Shankar, Pardesi, Mansaram, Mukund Bannerjee, Radheshyam Dixit, Taneja, Uma Khosla, Madhumita, Hansani Dutt, Veena Kapoor, Raj Verma, Albela and others. The story idea of this movie was by Sharad Joshi. Screenplay and dialogues of this movie were written by Govind Moonis. Editing was done by Mukhtar Ahmed.
“Saanch Ko Aanch Nahin” has five songs written by Kulwant Jani- four songs and Ravinder Rawal-one song. Music for this movie was composed by Raam-Laxman. Shailendra Sing and Usha Mangeshkar were the two singers whose voices featured in the songs of this movie. This movie has some good songs but they might have lost in the midst of other movies of that year viz. ‘Noorie’, ‘Mr Natwarlal’, ‘Jaani Dushman’, ‘Kala Pathhar’ of 1979 and other movies like ‘Don’, ‘Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki’, ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’, ‘Shalimar’, ‘Badalte Rishtey’ etc from the year ‘1978’ whose songs got to this list of ‘1979’.

Today’s song is a nice light hearted song and it might sound like a ‘ghazal’ too  On screen we have Arun Govil lip-syncing for the voice of Shailendra Singh and singing for his lady love in the movie i.e. Madhu Kapoor. Lyrics are by Kulwant Jani and music is composed by Raamlaxman.

Let us listen to this song sung by Shailendra Singh.
