Pancham’s Music – Eighties-to-Nineties (1981-1994…) Duets-7
Today’s Pancham composed duet is from the movie ‘Bahurani-1989’. I am not sure if I had watched this movie. It appears a familiar movie but I have no recollections about this movie. On our blog we already have movies with this title that were released in the years 1940, 1950 and 1963. Today’s ‘Bahuraani’ will be the fourth such title on this blog and it is from the year 1989. In addition, we also have a movie titled ‘Teen Bahuraaniyaan’ in the blog released in 1968.
“Bahurani-1989” was directed by Manick Chatterjee for ‘Bemisal Films Pvt Ltd, Bombay’. Prem Lalwani and Mohan Lalwani were the producers of this movie and it was passed by Censor Board on 18.12.1989. The cast of this movie has Rekha, Rakesh Roshan, Utpal Dutt, Usha Kiran, Rakesh Bedi, Deven Verma, Urmila Bhatt, Guddi Maruti, Aasha Sharma, Darshan, Inderjeet, Sunder, Aruna Irani and others. Gyandev Agnihotri is the writer of this movie and its Editing was done by Sudhanshu Chakraborty.
Sources on internet mention that this movie was into making for several years and it got a delayed release. The director of this movie Manick Chatterjee passed away before this movie was completed. It was later completed by Bharat Rangachari who was credited as Executive Director in the titles of this movie. Other than this it is said that this movie was earlier titled as ‘Madhuri’. And another interesting thing about this movie is its’ titles appeared on the screen after thirty-eight minutes of the movie is played on the screen.
“Bahurani-1989” has four songs composed by Rahul Dev Burman and written by lyricist Anjaan. Asha Bhonsle, Dilraj Kaur, Shailendra Singh and Amit Kumar are the playback singers for this movie. As mentioned about the today’s song is a duet song sung by Asha Bhonsle and Shailendra Singh. On screen we have Rekha and Rakesh Roshan lip-syncing them respectively. This song is a nice romantic song picturised on secret ( 🙂 ) locations of forest(s), Beaches etc. Secret because the ‘lovers’ normally meet with each other at these locations trying to hide from family, friends and ‘duniyaa kee nazrein’ 🙂
There are many other artistes present in the picturisation of this song appearing as ‘couples in love’. Though some faces looks familiar I am unable to identify them. We can see Deven Verma on screen as the song ends and it is his ‘nazrein’ that has seen the leading couple in this song romancing outdoors. Rest we have to watch in this movie, which I guess must be an interesting and entertaining movie. Knowledgeable readers who have watched this movie might be able to throw more light on this movie and its songs.
