It was in early may (5 may 2026 to be precise) when the blog reached its previous century (blog post number 20200). Today,we are still in the month of may 2026, and we find ourselves reaching next century (blog post number 20300). Two centuries in the same month ! It is like two full moon days in the same month. 🙂
It must be said that reaching two centuries in a month was fairly common for the blog, but the last time this feat was achieved was in February 2018. Prior to that it was achieved in March 2017 and January 2015. This was very common before that. There were as manty as 34 such occasions before 2015. The month of April 2013 was extra special. As many as three century posts were published that month (on 1 april, 14 april and 28 april)! Those were the days when we used to score centuries in 13 and 14 days. The fastest century in the blog is scored in 11 days (song post number 4600 on 9 september 2011).
25 days for a century at a rate of 4 songs a day is quite decent by our present rate of posting. Unlike in the past, most posts now a days are guest posts. It shows that the blog has now firmly become an online collaboration of likeminded music lovers.
With such a huge number of songs already covered, the background work of the blog has become considerable. The time I devote to background work is more than the time that I am able to devote in publishing the usual 4 posts in a day, and the final post of the day often appears in the evening.
The statistics that we have run up in the process are very interesting and they are not to be found anywhere. Even the much touted AI will fail to give us the facts that we can provide. For example, when I used AI to find out the name of actresses who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice, AI could only give me three or four names ! Seriously !! In the blog, I counted over 270 such actresses ! Based on my finding, I am at present running a series on alphabetical list of actresses who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice. So far I have reached upto letter C.
In this post, I am making use of another interesting statistic which AI may not be able to give. In the blog, we have 99 Lata Mangeshkar solo songs that were penned by Rajinder Krishan and composed by C Ramchandra. So in this post, I am presenting the 100th collaboration of Lata Mangeshkar as solo singer, Rajinder Krishnan as lyricist and C Ramchandra and music director. These 100 songs were sung in 29 movies between 1951 to 1958. There is one song from “Paayal Ki Jhankaar”(1968) which comes as a surprise because both Lata Mangeshkar and Rajinder Krishan had become estranged with C Ramchandra by late 1950s due to reasons that have been discussed in several posts in the past.
Nevertheless, what a collaboration Lata Mangeshkar, Rajinder Krishan and C Ramchandra had during 1950s. Almost all these 100 songs are timeless classics that sound as fresh today as they did when they were first released.
Here is this song from “Ghunghroo”(1952). “Ghunghroo”(1952) was directed by Hiren Bose for Filmkar Limited, Bombay. The movie had Omprakash, Sumitra Devi, Kuldeep Kaur, K N Singh, Badri Prasad, Murad etc in it.
“Ghunghroo”(1952) had nine songs in it. Seven of these songs have been covered so far. This Lata Mangeshkar solo song is the eighth and penultimate song of the movie to appear in the blog.
Only audio of the song is available. My guess is that this song, like other Lata Mangeshkar songs in the movie, was picturised on Sumitra Devi.
With this special song, we reach 100th Lata Mangeshkar-Rajinder Krishan-C Ramchandra collaboration in the blog, which also happens to be the 20300th song post in the blog.
I take this opportunity to thank one and all for their continued support and encouragement which is enabling the blog to go on and on for more than 17 years without losing motivation or momentum. Here is hoping that this musical bandwagon keeps rolling on and on and we keep reaching and passing many more milestones and landmarks during this journey.
