When one thinks of a bolt of lightning, it recreates in the mind the crackling sound of particles in the air subjected to currents of extremely high voltage, streaks of very very bright light zig-zagging across the sky, the rumbling sounds of thunder that follow the flash of light in a matter of few seconds. People who have witnessed bolts of lightning at very close quarters recount the intensity of both the sound and the flash of light. Sound of the crackling air, the sound of thunder, the blinding flash, and the rush of moving air at very close quarters. Whether from a distance, or a close quarters, this display of light and sound and movement is a gripping experience, for those who have an appetite for it.

“Mother India” (1957) was a movie that was released before I was born. So this movie is from an era before my time. I first watched this movie in late 1970s in its nth re run in a dilapidated movie hall. Moreover I was not much into old movies in those days and I went to watch this movie so that I may be able to say that I had seen this movie. 🙂
