Ladi aankh se aankh muhabbat ho gayee

Posted on: December 23, 2012

“Pocketmaar” (1956) was a Black and White movies production. It was directed by H Sa Rawail. The movie had Dev Anand, Geeta Bali, Sunder, Nadira, Gope, Bhagwan Sinha, Lalita Pawar, Tiwari, Kumud Tripathi etc in it.

This movie had eight songs in it. As many as seven songs from this movie have already been discussed.

Here is the seventh and final song from this movie. This song is sung by Lata and Rafi. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. The music sounds O P Nayayrish, but that could not be the case seeing that Lata’s voice appears in this song. It is Madan Mohan who has composed this O P Nayyarish song and that gives us an idea how Lata would have sounded under O P Nayyar’s music.

Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to say how or on whom this song is picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.

With this song, “Pocketmaar” (1956) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)

ladi aankh se aankh
ladi aankh se aankh
mohabbat ho gayi
pada gaal pe haath
hazaamat ho gayi
haay hazaamat ho gayi
ladi aankh se aankh
mohabbat ho gayi
pada gaal pe haath
hazaamat ho gayi
haay hazaamat ho gayi

baabu ji ke gore gaal
haay haay dekho ho gaye laal
babu ji ke gore gaal
haay haay dekho ho gaye laal
jal gayi haandi gali na daal
baithe reh gaye baankelaal
jal gayi haandi gali na daal
baithe reh gaye baankelaal
laga tamaachaa zor se
laga tamaachaa zor se
ji achhi daawat ho gayi
pada gaal pe haath
hazamat ho gayi
haai hazaamat ho gayi
ahaha
ladi aankh se aankh mohabbat ho gai
pada gaal pe haath
hazaamat ho gayi
haay hazaamat ho gayi

aisa chhoota ek pataakha
bade zor ka hua dhamaaka
aisa chhoota ek pataakha
bade zor ka hua dhamaaka
kehne waale sach keh gaye
pyaar hai bada ladaaka aaa
kehane waale sach keh gaye
pyaar hai bada ladaaka

bade bado ki pyaar ke haathon
bade bado ki pyar ke haathon
aji marammat ho gayi
pada gaal pe haath
hazaamat ho gayi
haay hazamat ho gayi
waah waah waah waah
ladi aankh se aankh mohabbat ho gayi
pada gaal pe haath
hazamat ho gayi

na jaan na pehchaan
aji main aapka mehmaan
dil ka khel nahin dilwaalon
itna to aasaan
na jaan na pehachaan
aji main aapka mehmaan
dil ka khel nahin dilwaalon
itna to aasaan

duniya ko to dil dene ki
duniya ko to dil dene ki
yoon hi aadat ho gayi
pada gaal pe haath
hazaamat ho gayi
haay hazaamat ho gayi
waah waah aah waah
ladi aankh se aankh mohabbat ho gayi
pada gaal pe haath
hazaamat ho gai
haai hazaamat ho gai

ladi aankh se aankh
mohabbat ho gayi
pada gaal pe haath
hazaamat ho gayi
haay hazamat ho gayi
ladi aankh se aankh
mohabbat ho gayi
pada gaal pe haath
hazaamat ho gayi
haay hazaamat ho gayi

Atulji,
That’s a good observation about Lata and OP.

Yippeeee! another movie joins the ranks of movies where all songs from the movie have been covered. We are now well into the 190s and we shall soon reach the double century.

Khyati Ji, I will not be around for the next week, and might not have internet access, so I request you to Yippeeee! any movies we complete in the next one week :).

There is also a Talat-Lata duet in this film, “Yeh Nayi Nayi Preet Hai.” Didn’t know this song till now.

This is the video. Lata sings for Meenu Mumtaz, Rafi for Dev Anand and for Gope. The song also features a young Mohan Choti. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_j4D9-lmzK4
