Chaand si chamkti raaton mein,
Aaya na koi wada kar ke
I present yet another NFS whose composer is not known.
The first three words of the song will surely take back readers to the well-known song from Sautan ki Beti (1989). But that is where the similarity ends for today’s song seems to be from early fifties and by an entirely different lyricist, the well-known Anjum Jaipuri.

Mukesh and his NFS – 09
In the aftermath of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination, the team of composers Hunslal-Bhagatram, lyricist Rajendra Krishna and singer Mohd. Rafi created a marathon NFS overnight. The song was over 12 minutes long and was made into 4 parts probably to fit on the 78-rpm record disc. The song was an instant hit all over the country.
On the blog, this song was represented way back in 2012 and here is the link.
During the same period, Mukesh also recorded a song on the situation and circumstances.

“Baat adhoori rahe gayi uss din”
In today’s post, we cover yet another music director who never got any filmi songs sung by Mukesh but composed two melodious NFS.
The composer is Jag Phool Kaushik, better known as JP Kaushik. He is also mostly known as the composer of Amitabh Bachchan’s debut movie Saat Hindustani (1969).

Mukesh and his NFS – 06
I was in a bit of dilemma, whether to include this post under Composers or NFS series.
I settled for NFS because Mukesh strangely has no film songs for the composer but has 4 NFS. We are talking about composer Iqbal.
Well, it is easy to jump to conclusion that it is Iqbal Qureshi. However, Iqbal and Iqbal Qureshi are two entirely different composers working almost during the same period.

What do these three films have in common?
• Footpath (1953)
• Shola aur Shabnam (1961)
• Shagoon (1964)
Well, it’s no brainteaser. Khayyam saab scored music for all the above quoted films.
But then a lesser-known trivia is the name of Vipin Mehra who was the assistant music director in all the three films.

This post is in memory of legendary singer Mukesh on his Remembrance Day (22 July 1923 to 27 August 1976).
The post is also in memory of arguably Mukesh’s greatest fan and compiler of Mukesh Geet Kosh, Shri Harish Raghuwanshi ji(15 October 1949 to 27 August 2024), who passed away on the same day and month last year (on 27 August 2024).
At the outset, as I pen down my 100th post on this unique blog, I take the opportunity to express my heartfelt and sincere thanks to Atul ji for providing this platform on a platter for Hindi Film Music aficionados to not only contribute thoughts on films and songs but also flex flairs for writing.
Today’s song in memory of Mukesh and Harish ji is easily available but is unique in the sense that the details about the making of this song are not available in public domain.

Today, 22 July is Mukesh’s birthday (22 July 1923 – 27 August 1976).
Much has been written on him in my various posts.
Hence, coming to the next part of this series, we take up the case of composer duo Sapan Sengupta and Jagmohan Bakshi known popularly as Sapan Jagmohan. They are so popular by this name that every time, one is compelled to ponder whether they are one or two people.
